Do I wait?

So, this guy I like and I went on a date yesterday. Me and him have been good friends for two years. His ex showed up and started trying to flirt with him. He would keep coming up to me and leaving her. But she would come back and try again. It was really uncomfortable. I didn't think much into it since I know he can't date her anyways because of a lot of problems. Once she left us alone, We finally started holding hands, kissing, you know couple stuff. There was a few weird silences from talking but for the most part things were going smoothly. Then I came back home and he started acting weird on text. After I asked him, He told me he wasn't ready for a relationship yet, that we were going too fast and he was afraid he was going to hurt me. He said he still has feelings for me but he cant be in a relationship right now. I told him we would just go with things because i don't want to ruin things even if we aren't together. He said he agreed.

My questions for this is, why could have this been brought up when things were going well? How should I act to this? Should I wait for him to be ready or move on?

Well i would just say that its up to your judgement. Do you think things could go somewhere? Do you want to wait for him? If you don't think you should wait for.him then just break off all the couple stuff. But if you really care about him, then just support him till he is ready. I would say wait because if he has feelings you wont be waiting on him for long.

i think that girl brought back old feelings of maybe distrust or unease and he isnt sure what do do with them. if you truly think this relationship will go somewhere i would wait for him. if not then sadly id let him go

If u love him and want to be with him u would wait anf try to makr it work if not pick up and move on
