Diet and exercise, I had good results just with dieting and using a calorie shifting diet. I think there are still some threads lying around here with healthy eating tips you could browse to add to anything other users post here.

As Ben said, diet and exercise are the crucial things to lose weight. Especially cut on junk food (crisps, burgers, cookies etc.) and aim to eat regular meals with no snacks in between.

Seriously you need to set goals. It's super easy to ask people any good dieting plans or workout plans, but your number one thing you should really really take note is your goal! Be determined to do it. Don't give up! It's so easy to wait and wish you were leaner, but you really won't be unless you get up and do stuff!

There are a few ways you could lose weight:
-decrease your calorie intake
-increase exercise
-or a combination
Like Jordan said above, it's super important to set goals, both long term and short term. Also, make sure they're achievable. In the first week you're likely to lose a lot more then you will in weeks following (this is due to water weight and your metabolism adjusting. I'd recommend speaking with your doctor to help you set goals.
Also, most importantly, please stay safe! Don't fall into a downward spiral of dieting! Make sure that you eat enough, don't just jump down to 500 calories a day, because that's just as poor for your health, if not worse, then overeating.
Remember that weight loss won't solve all your problems. Things like confidence, happiness, etc. need to be worked on in other ways.
Please stay safe and I wish you luck!

im really over weight but one thing that has helped me deal wit it is the fact that i dont give s**t what others think. if i feel good the i know im fabulous
If you want to loose the weight really fast then that is where you should slow down. If u go into it really fast you will wear yourself out and not want to do it anymore. So diet and exercise will help you. But also just believeing you can do it and havin a goal to help motivate you. Like a dance or celebration

I recommend taking up weight lifting, it is way more fun then running on a treadmill. Learn the compound movements: squat, bench press and deadlift, and try playing sports for cardio maybe. Bodybuilders mostly use diet to cut fat before competitions, and not cardio. I think surrounding yourself with low carb foods and keeping up a gym schedule where you see yourself getting stronger, is the best way to loose weight.

Try to keep sugar, greasy stuff, highly processed frozen stuff, and meat and eggs to a minimum. Increase your intake of vegetables and legumes(beans). Try not to drink anything other than water. Go easy on the fruit and nuts.
For exercise, try to start out with swimming(if possible), jogging, and your usual push ups, sit ups, leg ups, etc. If you can get a gym membership that would probably help.
