So i just found out that my leg was bleeding and i tried to clean it up using a (now cherry red) handkerchief, right now im just holding the kerchief against the little wound...

what am i supposed to do, the blood keeps coming out (unless im holding it like i am right now but i'm really rather tired and need to sleep :(

Here's a picture, not parsed because i reckoned some people are hard at handling blood (like me). [http://i.imgur.com/ZJ3x9m8.jpg]

how can i fix this and what could have caused the bleeding? please help! c;

For how long has it been bleeding?
If you hit a rather big atery it might bleed for a little while. If you don't have any illnesses it should eventually stop. Just let it 'dry', you could wrap a CLEAN towel around it to 'catch' the blood so it doesn't ruin your blankets. But it should stop after a while.

edit; do you have a picture of the actualy wound? And does it hurt?

I guess the bleeding might stop eventually, but you shouldn't simply put tissues in the wound. Apply some PVP or antiseptic and then put a plaster to make it stop bleeding. Don't you have any idea where you might have injured yourself and started bleeding so much?

Here's another pic; [http://i.imgur.com/GAYSMRO.jpg]. That one should have the wound a bit clearer.

i cleaned it with another handkerchief and dried it, then put on a plaster.

it's bleeding rather fast though, two seconds for a line of two inches (when i'm standing)

Legs always bleed a lot because gravity helps it go out. So it's rather normal for it to bleed this much. It probably isn't that much though, it just looks like a lot.

Don't keep wiping the blood away. If your body is trying to form a scab on it, you'll just ruin it by wiping it off.
Put a towel under your leg and let it bleed. It'll stop, don't worry!

Are you talking any medications like a low does aspirin. Maybe that's why it's continuously bleeding. Just keep it covered or tell someone.

Damn, that looks nasty. I would also recommend running it under water, keep it clean (and the rest of your leg clean) until the bleeding slows, at which point you could probably just let it finish on its own and scab over. That's what I'd do, anyway - but I have no medical training.

My cuts always go that, take freaking ages to scab over, from what I figure yours is because gravity is pulling blpood down into your legs making it harder for the wound to scab over, but I have no medical training, justr leave it, if it doesnt stop after a long while then tell someone.

If you took any kind of pain reliever recently they thin blood and hinder clotting.

Prob hit a vein or arterie in your leg that has the bleeding keep on going. Just put pressure on it for a while and u should be good.

Next time anything of the sort happens, like what a lot of people said, put pressure on and around the area and lift your leg (or whatever has been wounded) up to the air. That way, it's more difficult to pump blood up to the area, and it aids in stopping the bleeding. When it stops bleeding or at least slows down so it's not flowing down your leg, use a sterile swab to clean it up and bandage the wounded area. You probably don't want to accidentally pull the scab off, just in case it does that again.

If its small enough, put a corner of a tissue in it, and it will plug the hole and absorb some blood. or tie somthing really tight around it to restrict blood flow. Just make sure you let it go after a little while so it doesnt like turn blue and fall off.
Try keeping it above your heart. Like prop it up. That will allow less blood to flow there because it goes to the lowest part of your body.

Just to anyone replying, it's been over a month ago that i had this issue. If it had kept bleeding for a month, i'd have been pretty much dead by now.

What did happen was that the dried blood came off in maths yesterday. There's a little scar there, but the back of your foot is a kind of weird place to cut so i don't think people'll think i'm a cutter :c

Next time you have a headache, take ibuprofen(advil) or acetaminophen.
ASA (asparin) prevents blood from clotting, and it's not that good for headaches. ibuprofen and acetaminophen are the best at relieving headaches and pain.
