View Full Version : Things I've Learned About Sexuality.

I first learned what it meant to be gay in church (it was a very progressive Baptist church so they simply said "someone who likes people of the same sex") and since then I've come a long way from being an ignorant little 11 year old.

+A gay man cannot marry a woman and become straight (and vice versa)
+Gay people do not only live in states where gay marriage is legal.
+I am not the only LGBT person in school.
+Gays are not perceived as monsters anymore by the masses.
+Transsexuals/genders and Intersexes are not hideous freaks.
+I cannot turn myself straight by viewing heterosexual erotica.
+Being bisexual doesn't mean that you're still on the fence about whether you're gay or straight.
+Being different is not a fate worse than suicide.
+Therapists are obligated to not judge LGBT patients.
+Being asexual doesn't mean that you choose not to have sex.
+Gay marriage legalization will not lead to bestiality legalization.
+Just because a boy likes to hang out with girls, doesn't mean he's gay(and vice versa).
+LGBTs come in all races, not just white.
+LGBT pride events are held even in the most conservative of states.
+You never know who is a closeted LGBT.

Feel free to share what you've learned.

These are all important things to learn, equally so for straight people to learn as it is for LGBTQIA+ people.

I actually learned the same things. I think the first time I learned what being gay was my step dad was calling these guys fags and I asked him what it was. It's a good thing people learn these lessons because if they don't we'll have more homophobes running around.
