An 11-year-old boy has married his 10-year-old cousin in the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a newspaper reported.
Mohammed al-Rashidi and his unidentified cousin will seal the marriage they contracted under the sharia laws of Islam and move in together after a ceremony to take place in the summer, Al-Shams, newspaper said.
"I am ready for this marriage. It will help me study better," Mohammed, who goes to primary school in the northern province of Hail, was quoted as saying by Al-Shams.
"I invite all my classmates to do like me," the boy said, adding that he wanted to "crown a love story through marriage".
The schoolboy's father, Muraizak al-Rashidi, told the newspaper he was busy sending out invitations for a summer celebration to seal the marriage.
Dahim al-Jaber, the headmaster at Mohammed's school, said marriage at such a young age was "inappropriate" but wished the couple a happy life together.

What is wrong with these people marriage is suppose to be a sacred bond between two people who love each other and all the boy is concerned about is studying better and that doesn't even compare to the fact that he's only 10 and she's 11 these parents are irresponsible.

One question.
How is being married to his 10 year old cousin going to help him study better?

Hmm.
Well, Dahim was normaler (is that even a word?) than the others. Muraizak seems like a nice guy, working on the celebrations and such.
But how will the marriage make Mohammed "study better"? lol, well, maybe because his sexual needs will be given to him now so he can focus on other things besides that. :D
But I dunno what to say about it that sounds intelligent, but it's just strange.

Isn't this shocking....
Getting married at age eleven is, really...really young. I mean, doesn't he want to go to high school, and collage? And, doesn't his cousin want to do the same? before making 'future' plans? Like....wow.
Also. I personally don't think that cousins should marry each other...

Thinking ethnocentrically, yes it is weird. To them, it's normal. The father's sending out invitations for a celebration. The headmaster thinks it's "inappropriate" but he's not condemning them, instead, he wishes them well.

You guys, it's not like they're sending these kids packing to their own home to start a new family and live their own life on their own...I mean the boy even said they're still gonna be in school, etc...

I am not surprised. People can get married at any age there, but his cousin... really?
