I was talking with a friend at McDonalds about psychology. she suggested that I take the BSc (bachelor of science) route because psychologists with a BSc get paid more then psychologists with a BA (bachelor of art)...

I disagreed and said that it wouldn't matter what path you took because first of all, a bachelors degree is next to nothing (employment rate would be low), and second of all, if 2 psychologists both had a masters degree in the same field of psyc, they would get paid the same amount, regaurdless of what education path they took whether it be BSc or BA. (just in terms of this.. i still realize experience, your GPA and all that still matter)

can anyone else throw in their 2 cents? different countries may yield different results, although certainty dont mind getting results from other countries, Canada would be preferred.

Im just really curious.. lol. thanks.

I'm going to agree on the BSc. What if you don't get the masters degree? And in the meanwhile? A BSc also looks better on your curriculum than a BA.

Most psychologists perform scientific studies rather than social work kind of things. A BSc will be considered the better degree in the majority of psychology based jobs.

There must be so many variations in pay and opportunities as with any job

The only thing I can see on line is That http://futurestudents.yorku.ca/program/psychology

There seem to more opportunities science based with a BSc.

Good to do the background etc -

yeah I spoke to my sociology teacher (she also has a back round in psyc.) and she said it was BS. because all that matters when getting a job are the end results of your education.
there was more but i cant remember it all. but the rest of it had nothing to do with pay.

so yeah basically it doesnt matter what undergrad degree you take (BSc or BA) it just depends on your end GPA.

Well, to be honest psychology is a very tough field to get into. I am going to go in that field, and I know having your bachelors isn't enough, especially if you want to be a psychologist. I'm actually going to get my PhD in child psychology so I could be a child therapist. But when it comes to what major, if you're going to be a psychologist, I think you really should major in psychology and then minor in science.
