Brown Discharge!

Hello my name is Abi and I'm new here, and I have a question! So I'm 15 and haven't started my period yet. Over the last two weeks I've had brown discharge in my underwear. When I found it, it was dry and sort of looked like blood, even though it's brown. I wore a pad just in case (very uncomfortable - first time wearing one). At night there's no discharge but in the day there's a lot. Two weeks ago there wasn't a lot but now there's more. Is this the start of my period?

Also during the day it also feels like I'm dribbling wee, I'm guessing this is the blood? If that's what it is?

It may be the start of your period, but if it is happening during the day and consistently for more than a week, it probably isn't. Don't worry though, because having discharge is normal, no matter the color. If you realize it starts to smell really bad or have an unnatural (yellow-green type of coloring) there may be a problem and you will want to talk to your doctor. But having discharge is normal for a girl in puberty, don't worry about it.

Welcome to you're period darling... in other words welcome to a week of hell... the discharge is probably the start of your period and try wearing a panty liner which is kinda like a thinner pad if you arent bleeding much just be consious about remembering to change it more often

Welcome to adulthood. Kidding... sort of.

But seriously, that's most likely the start of your period. Personally, I got a full period my first time but a lot of girls will get a brown discharge (blood turns brown when it dries) or little spots of blood (called "spotting") for the first few months before you really get a full period. And yes, you may feel like you're "leaking" a bit. It's uncomfortable and annoying but you get used to it. After all, you have another 40 or so years of it to go. Also, it may vary how long you're spotting for and when it happens (monthly or every few months). It takes about a year and a bit before your cycle becomes consistent in duration and when it happens.

You're lucky though. 15? Mine started when I was 9 or 10.

Thanks for the support guys. Wow, some of you were young. My mum was also 15 when she got hers so I was kinda expecting it to happen whilst I was 15.
