Hey so I've been playing basketball basically my whole life and I only started wearing compression shorts for the last couple years. Before, I just used regular boxer briefs. Anyway, after using the compression shorts I don't really feel very comfortable wearing them. The support isn't super great, it gets incredibly hot, and it squishes my balls on to my thighs which bothers me when I play. I usually wear a jockstrap when I play football but I doubt I'll need a cup for bball. I heard of this thing called a swimmer jockstrap that can be used for running and stuff. Does this seem like a good idea? Any suggestions or specific brands? Thanks

I think a swim jock would be to tight and not balanced on you for the movement etc.

I never u derstood why Americans use jockstraps or compression shorts for basketball or football, in the ulk we get alone perfectly fine without ether of them, I just don't see the point

I think it's for safety, I live in Canada and we don't wear a cup for basketball, we do for hockey and football or any contact sport, but basketball for the most part is a non contact sport and the chances of getting hit there are slim.

In the UK we plays everything with them, even full contact sports like Rugby (rugby is similar to American football but without the sissy armoupr and protection, a game for real men). Here, I'd you get hit there, you deal with it and move on.

I am a rower and tried jockstraps once. They are not very comfy and give less support than boxer briefs. So I keep wearing boxer briefs for rowing
