Why does it seem that in high school bands more girls seem to choose baritone/euphonium over tuba?

A tuba has a really lower sound, and in my experiences in band (I was in it for three years in middle school) a lot of the girls liked the higher pitched instruments. I'm not sure why, but they did.... o.o
