I'm in love with Vocaloid/Japanese metal and European metal. Way better than American metal in my opinion.

But I always suggest Oh, Sleeper (yeah it's American) they have pretty good stuff, especially Vices Like Vipers.
Most of the metal I listen to isn't in that style and is more djent-like.

How about doom metal? Like Electric Wizard, Sleep, Pallbearer, Lord Mantis? They're really good but also really complex

Listen to Dio, or Black Sabbath back when Dio was in it (Heaven and Hell, The Mob Rules, Dehumanizer). Dio-era Rainbow is also quite good, but it's more rock'n'roll than metal. Rammstein and Powerwolf are amazing, and so is Sabaton, especially in Swedish.
