What do you thinik about gun control laws?
I think there should be no law banning weapons, if they are licsenced. It's in the constitution that we have the right to bear arms, so why take that away.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people. I think people should be able to carry weapons for protection. Besides if guns were illegal, people would still be able to get them just like drugs, they are illegal yet people get their hands on them all the time.
I think there should be laws for safety, such as having a trigger lock and keeping the gun locked away so kids can't play with them.
I know there are many accidental deaths when kids find a gun and think it's a toy so they play with it. Gun owners need to be responsible for their guns, but I still think it's everybody's right to own a firearm.
What are your thoughts?

I don't think guns should even exist in modern societies, but obviously that's not realistic. There really is no good solution. Either way you've got idiots with guns, whether they're legal or not. The real solution is for there to not be any idiots in the world, but that's also unrealistic.

I think that fully automatic weapons should be banned, and that handguns allowed with a permit. Shotguns and rifles should be kept in locked gun containers for residents in cities, and there should be random inspections to be sure that the law is followed in that regard.

Guns are the main reason that violence is in the human race so I agree with 0= because there are idiots out there that think guns solve everything.
I believe the last time that this country was ruling on guns was 1934 (please correct me if I am wrong)

I think there having some kind of court hearing on gun control right now actually.
I agree with Yuri.
I also agree with 0=.
Even if we ban guns, there will always be idiots out there running around killing people, but if we didn't have guns, they would just find another way to kill people. People need to be responsible if they have guns.
Guns are also great, such as for protection and hunting, but I suppose there are people who are against hunting to because killing animals is wrong. Bullshit, animals kill animals to. It's natures way to stop overpopulation, humans are just helping out. People started hunting for survival. Although hunting endangered animals is very bad.

it is physically impossible to get rid of guns. There aer already too many, and there would just be huge black markets for them. It makes no sense to talk about "a world without guns", because it is physically impossible! Not to mention the thousnads of lives that ave been saved by civilians with guns protecting themselves.

You use the 2nd amendment as a defense, but let's face it: look at how things have changed. Do you really think our founding fathers had the minds of "a gun in every home?" I think that it made sense back then, because there was a lot of hunting and militia were needed. Now that the world has become more civilized, shouldn't gun usage be cut back?

Yes. But I think that as long as there are people who have guns for harmful purposes, people should be aloud to own guns for protective purposes.
I don't think there is any way to stop people from using guns badly. I wish there would be, but there are just people who are horrible people.

Let me ask, what is the purpose of the handgun for protection? At anywhere from 0-5 yards and 20 yards and over, its almost useless.

If it's not drawn yet someone can easily run up to you and disable you before you get a shot in. I doubt most people can draw, aim, and fire a handgun before their attacker runs fifteen feet. I can run that in under a second.

Yea... They have done studies for Police Officers, you need at least 20 feet to draw your gun B4 someone closes running at you

My point exactly. The handgun is an almost purely offensive weapon. Useless for personal civilian defense. Get a taser, hot shot. Hand guns are only good for robbing convenience stores and looking "cool".

I never said guns were good things, I just don't think guns should be banned. I'm mostly talking about hunting purposes.

I don't think guns should be banned TOTALLY. just handguns. And we should cut back on the production of guns in general.

The reason I believe in the 2nd ammendment is, we think it would be so peaceful with out guns. It wouldnt. Thugs and gangsters would still have em. thats why we have background checks and stuff so only responsible people can own one for self defense. Guns dont kill, people kill
