The Giver

I don't really want to go into to much detail because its an amazing book and i don't want to spoil it but if you haven't read it then i suggest read it now. Its about a town of people in the future who are pretty much being controlled by the government in every single thing they do including who they marry, what kids they get, and what career they have they aren't allowed to see each other without a shirt on (including married couples) and when they start to get sexual urges they are ordered to take a pill for the rest of their lives to stop them. I don't want to go into that much more detail but please read this book.

I had to read it last year, have to admit I almost liked it as much as I liked Harrison Bergeron. (its probably one of the few books I was forced to read in schol that i actually enjoyed :D)

My sixth grade english teacher recommended it to me, telling me how her daughter loved it more and more every time she read it because with each re-read she noticed more things woven deeper into the story. The same has proven true with myself. Every time I read it, I love it more.

The book is absolutely amazing. It really hits some of the social problems we have and expands on them. The Giver should be a requirement for all people to read : D The next books in the series are good too. Gathering Blue then The Messenger.

i love the giver. my sixth grade teacher introduced it to me. i like how he tries to fight how all decisions are made for him
