Slow Internet

Lately my internet has been running slow, or not at all. Like sometimes ill try go to a page and that loading bar on Firefox won't even move, even after i come back like after 10 minutes, and then ill try another page and it'll just go normal speed. I dont know much about computers but i think it may be coz my mum turns the computer off at that wall, and I know thats really bad for the computer and I tell her to stop, but its just because i havn't been using the computer for about 20 minutes she just decides to turn it off, and she has no idea how to turn it off properly.

Im pretty sure thats it, but it might not be and how am i gonna fix this
