As the title imply, I has been disconnected from anime for a while.
A year and a half maybe :(
So I want to ask openly if there’s an anime (regardless of the type, sci-fi,
action, ecchi, whatever) you recommend from this year or the last one?
Thanks
:)

Uhmm, I don't know about recent shows, but some of my favorites are Death note, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Grave of the Fireflies (movie), and Sword Art Online.

I dont know about death note, but Kill la Kill I agree was great.

Death Note and Attack on Titan are pretty solid. Cowboy Bebop is always a good throwback.

I'm a big fan of Soul Eater. Maybe you can try that.

Thank you for your answers
Yes, I've seen many of the classics you've mentioned (Idk why but many people don't know Ghost in the shell or Bubblegum crisis, even when they're great)
But my question stills remain
Is there anything substantial or good enough from 2013-14?
Someone mentioned the new Sailor Moon, as matter of fact, that universe is a big MEH to me,
but that new one worth the shot?

These are kinda old, but have you seen Yu Yu Hakusho or the original Hunter X Hunter?

Just recently saw Psycho-Pass (Anime: Sci-fi, Action, Mystery) and it's an AWESOME anime. I really enjoyed the visuals, the setting and the characters... the characters interested me more than the futuristic setting!
I do recommend watching Psycho-Pass, it's a really interesting anime that'll have you on the edge.
My second suggestion is Tokyo Ghoul (Anime: Horror, Mystery, Suspense) It has a ''Modern Vampire'' theme to it, except replace the vampires with ghouls that eats human flesh in order to survive. The main character is an innocent, shy and naive college student named Kaneki (last name, mind you.) who became half-human, half-ghoul because his crush was actually a ghoul who tried to kill him, but she ended dying and her organs was transplanted into Kaneki's, making him human/ghoulish. Anyway, it's a great anime that focuses on the world of ghouls and their daily lives, and the internal, morality struggle Kankei has to deal with since he can't eat anything besides human flesh. It's great and I say at the very end of the episode Kankei transforms from a pussy into a sadistic badass...
Next suggestion is the famous... ATTACK ON TITAN (Anime: Action, Suspence, Shounen). If you haven't seen it before, GO WATCH IT NOW! I find it awesome with interesting characters starring a hot-headed, vengeful teen (Eren Jaeger) with his two best friends: silent, stoic girl (Mikasa Ackerman) and his trusty nerdy sidekick (Armin Arlert). Basically it's humanity against big, human-eating monsters (titans) that's trying to wipe out humanity completely, and the only way to properly match against the titans is to transform into a titan shifter, which Eren has that ability. The theme song is badass on SO many levels, and the action scenes are great, music fits the tone of a scene and it's just...- just go watch it.
Hellsing (OVA)(Horror, Mystery, Action). The OVA is certainly more refreshing than the original, and it sticks truer to the manga. So, we have Sir Intregra, a natural badass and leader who controls the Hellsing mansion, her trusty crew: Alucard (vampire), Seras (vampire), Walter (death god). The OVA's more focused on gore and horror compared to really having a good story, but that doesn't mean Hellsing have a plotless story. If you want to watch it for Alucard and Seras to destroy some motherfuckers, well, I certainly recommend this OVA. The animation is clean, dingy, but definitely solid with the gore and action scenes.
Here's some definite animes you should check out.
* Kill la Kill
* Accel World
* Itowabi Swim Club
* Kuroshitsuji
* Code Geass
* Neon Genesis Evangelion
* Guilty Crown
* Pulle Magi Modaka Magica
* Fates/Zero
* Is This a Zombie?
There ya go, that should be good enough.

Sailor Moon Crystal is good. However in my opinion old Science Fiction anime's from the 80s and 90s are the best to me. Like Doraemon they just put that on the disney channel recently with an english version. It's old, but to the United States its new so because it's in english.

The new Sailor Moon is basically a reboot of the original. They're quite similar.
Welp, I'm going through the list to pick out some recent stuff I can recommend:
New Hunter X Hunter: Action, Adventure. Probably the best long-running battle shounen. It just ended a couple of weeks ago.
Aku no Hana (The Flower of Evil): Teenage Psychological Drama, Romance. This is based off a critically acclaimed manga about highschoolers getting into mischief. Many are put off by it's rotoscoped artstyle.
Majestic Prince: Mecha, War, Comedy. A team of students from a school for special soldiers get new mechs and have to protect the human race from alien conquest. Starts out as mostly slapstick comedy, but gets serious as the show goes on. Character designs by Hisashi Hirai, so expect to see some extremely similar faces if you've ever seen a show with him on the staff.
Hataraku Maou-sama! (The Devil is a part-timer!): Slice of Life, Fantasy, Comedy. In an alternate dimension the demon lord is losing to the hero, so he flees to our dimension and gets a job at McDonalds to work his way to the top and conquer Earth instead. This is a fun show. Not too serious, but there are some action scenes.
Kakumeiki Valvrave: Mecha, Space. Nazi Germany analogue attacks a Switzerland analogue. Most of the country is conquered except a school that inexplicably has super-mechs. This series is not good, but it is an entertaining trainwreck of ridiculousness that makes no sense.
Shingeki no Kyoujin (Attack on Titan): Fantasy, Drama, Action. Humanity is mostly extinct because of a race of giant animalistic creatures. The remaining humans are trying to survive and solve the mystery of the titans. This is a great series, but the anime has some pacing problems in the middle.
Suisei no Gargantia: Mecha, Slice of Life. A soldier in the galactic army accidentally gets teleported to earth during a battle in the far reaches of space. He and his mech adapt to life on earth, which is mostly covered with water. Fun non-typical mecha show with many likable characters.
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S: Sci-fi, Action, Fantasy. Continuation of the Railgun/Index series. I don't know much about them, but lots of people like them and this is a continuation.
Blood Lad: Fantasy, Action, Comedy. Leader of a vampire gang and a ghost have adventures in an effort to revive the ghost. Haven't seen much of this, but what I saw was funny.
Gatchaman Crowds: Sci-fi, action, slice of life...?. This show is loosely based in concept on Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets). Five people get powers from a mysterious man and protect Tokyo. One person creates something called crowds which help and hinder their progress. This show is different and not for everyone.
Monogatari Series: Second Season: Slice of Life, Drama, Fantasy, Romance, Harem. Continuation of the Bake-/Nisemonogatari series. If you likes them you should like this.
Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! (Watamote!): Slice of life, Comedy, Depressing. Show about a female NEET. I haven't seen it, but people say it gives some commentary on the basement-dweller stereotype from another angle.
Galilei Donna: Sci-Fi, Adventure, Mystery. Three descendants of Galileo are caught up in a plot involving their ancestor's ideas.
Gundam Build Fighters: Mecha, Tournament. Gundam show about building and battling Gunpla in virtual environments. Has many references to other Gundam shows and is generally considered one of the better entries in the series.
Hajime no Ippo: Rising: Sports, Action. Continuation of the boxing anime Hajime no Ippo.
Kill La Kill: Action, Sci-fi. Clothing gives people powers and a family is trying to take over the world using said clothing. From the staff that brought you Gurren Lagann. Solid action show. Similar themes to Gurren Lagann, but not quite as well executed.
Samurai Flamenco: I can't really put a genre on this one. This series is all over the place tone-wise. It's a mixture of those real-life superhero stories, Kick-Ass, and Kamen rider.
Space Dandy: Sci-fi, Comedy. space monster hunter and his crew has wacky adventures in space. From the guy that brought you Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Great dub and airs on Toonami.
Wizard Barristers: Benmashi Cecil. Fantasy, Llegal Drama, Comedy. Law firm that defends magical criminals.
Ping Pong the Animation: Sports. About a ping-pong club. I haen't seen it, but from what I've heard it's a solid contender for Best Anime of 2014.
Akame Ga Kill: Fantasy, Action. Group of assassins tries to bring down a corrupt government. Solid action series that's still airing. Great character dynamics.
Aldnoah.Zero: Mecha, War. Don't really know what this is about, but the concept was developed by Gen Urobuchi. I hear positive things about it.
Barakamon: Slice of Life, Comedy. Caligrapher moved to a country island to improve his work and meets a kid who changes his views on life.
Tokyo Ghoul: Fantasy, Action. Main character is turned into a ghoul which is a species with special powers that need to eat humans to survive. Series is about surviving in Tokyo against the anti0ghoul police and other factions of ghoul.
Zankyou no Terror: Action, Psychological, Thriller. Small group of terrorists try to bring justice to group that experimented on them as children. Beautifully animated and from the guy that brought you Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.
There are a lot more, but that's just the ones that I watched or that piqued my interest. The Winter 2014 season is just starting and there are a lot more quality shows than in a while, so check it out.

A little update
I just saw Freezing and Freezing vibration and to be honest...
It was kinda frustrating, the entire anime follow by the numbers all the (ecchi) rules.
The average dumb anime guy surrounded by the average girls set, then there was the typical conspiracy, the typical excuse for
the girls to wear a sexy costume, the cliche alien attack, an chick named Elizabeth (she was kinda interesting),
but at the end the anime was all by the book.
I didn't like it, but I didn't hate it either, just... idk =(
