So I think breast feeding in public is a woman's choice to a extent but today we had a meet the team lunch for my wrestling team and this woman had a screaming baby and rite in the middle of the crowd she pulled it out and started feeding the kid. I was like holy titty. What do ya'll think about breast feeding in public

It's a tough call, but I would say that it would be preferable that if a baby needs to be breastfed it should be done someplace secluded. Assuming that this happened in the middle of some social event, then I think the woman probably should have gone to a side room or someplace like that to have privacy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with breastfeeding the kid, but doing that in the middle of a social event is probably not the best idea.

It's legal, I think it's ok, it's 100% natural.

personally I'm not a tit guy and seeing it wouldn't be a problem. Breastfeeding is natural and there is no real issue.

It's 100% natural!!!! For fuck sake why does everyone take natural things and put this weird stigma around them?!

I feel that it might be in the best interest of the mother to move to a place that's at least not in the middle of everything (because babies tend to be overwhelmed by just about anything they can be overwhelmed by. If they're hungry, and it's loud? OHOHO HAVE FUN, MOM)

However, when there is no option to step away, such as on a bus, etc. she should have the availability. And really, it should be her choice to begin with.

Breastfeeding is natural, breasts really aren't inherently sexual. They're a part of the reproductive system because they feed babies. It's not as if she's flashing anyone, or acting provocatively, she's just feeding her child, yenno?

It's 100% natural!!!! For fuck sake why does everyone take natural things and put this weird stigma around them?!

Agreed.

The human body is weird. It was okat for her to feed the baby, but if it could be helped, she should've fed the baby somewhere more...secluded.

It's ok with me, as long as she is using a cover or blanket of some sort.

Breasts are not sexual unless we make them sexual, and there's absolutely no reason any woman should have to hide them in public. If a baby's gotta eat, a baby's gotta eat.

I'm baffled how controverisal a nipple can be, seeing that most of the sexual part of the breast is the volume, indicating better child bearing qualities.

Seriously, if you're offended by Biology101, might as well be against childbirth as a whole.

Breasts being used for their intended purpose?! Shocking! How dare she!
Breastfeeding in public should be 100% the womens' choice. And she should be able to do so without judgement, at least not any judgement out loud. You know the sexualization of breasts has gone too far when you can't use them for their intended purpose unless you're in your completely 100% away from the public eye.

I wouldn't be comfortable whipping out my breasts in public, even with a screaming baby, but let her do what she wants. It's legal, so what's the problem?

Maybe its natural, but sorry fellow ladies. Some women who recently have become moms think they are allowed to do anything in the world for the sake of their kid.
Letting their kids scream their lungs of in restaurants without even trying to hush em up.
Changing diper on the first table they find, no matter whos around and what they are doing.
Not being the slightest sorry about what their kid destroys cause its not their fault that they cant controle their movements yet.
Thinking its okay to switch every subject around to talk about their baby all the time, cause "Sure everybody wants to hear about my baby - worlds most precious human being"

Yeah youre right. Im not ready to have kids yet. And I hope I'll never be as inconsiderate as some women are.
But in the case of public breast feeding, its not the worst

While I see where you're coming from, feeding their children isn't the same as blatantly allowing them to misbehave. I don't understand why you bring that into this discussion, because it's irrelevant.

Sex is natural. Do you wanna see that in the middle of public?

Shitting is natural but we don't have toilets right in the dinning room of a resuraunt.

Feeding a child is different than having sex and taking a dump.
Breasts aren't sexual organs (although they're considered secondary sexual organs because they develope during puberty). So therefore breast feeding isn't in any way comparable to sex.
Poop is full of bacteria. its fucking gross to have toilets in a dining room because of airborn bactera due to taking a dump. Feeding a child is different than shitting.
Are breasts really as horrific as someone having sex or shitting to you?

perhaps it's unusual or uncommon, which is why it's weird, but i don't see anything wrong with it.

If anybody has ever seen a mother breastfeed a child in public, you know that she isn't ripping off her shirt, flinging her bra across the room and shaking her boobs around while she feeds her baby. She isn't moaning and groping herself. She's most likely nervous as shit, trying to discretely unbutton her shirt, and nonchalantly care for the child she went through physical labor to produce, because judgmental strangers are staring at her while she's trying to feed her helpless baby who can't control when he/she has to eat. Mothers don't draw it out any longer than they have to, and don't do anything inappropriate in feeding their babies, so I'm not sure why it's even a debate. I'm sure everybody who posted in this thread was breastfed publicly or somewhat publicly at some point or another, and I'm sure if any of you have kids or a wife, a time will come where it has to be done also.

I don't mind it at all never understood what's all the fuss about. If I don't want to see the woman's breasts while she feeds her baby I simply don't stare at her.

What a reasonable reply, really there's nothing wrong with public breast feeding, it's just natural. You can bet all you have that any mother doing it out there really just wants to keep her baby satisfied and healthy and isn't thinking about showing off at all!

I'm saying it's pretty indecent to pull out a breast in public. I'm not saying don't come out of the house I'm saying step to the side or go to the rest room.

Someday the individual rights police will have to accept that breasts are not only sexual in our culture (they're a huge erogenous zone, I mean come on everybody knows this) but that there is a taboo in Western society against showing them in public with a baby or not attached outside of spaces made for that purpose, such as nudist beaches. Some taboos (like homosexuality) are worth breaking, others seem to be broken just because the individual can. Why break a taboo when there's an extremely easy, painless and inexpensive solution that satisfies everybody?

Breastfeed all you want but be discreet about it. Just throw a shawl or blanket over it, that's really all that's needed, nobody's asking you to keep it at home but do keep it quiet. That's not the damn patriarchal society dictating what you should do with your body, it's pure fucking common courtesy.

I don't want to watch women breastfeeding in the open, in my case not because it's any sort of a turn on, but because like many "natural" acts, it's an intimate moment between a mother and someone else (namely the child) that she doesn't have to broadcast to the world. I don't go around whipping my dick in public whenever I want to have a piss because that's an intimate moment between me and me. It's natural and I have a physiological need to piss like a child has a physiological need for food, but I still do not do it in public. I know it's all the rage to make sure every stranger knows about your personal life and lifestyle choices, but there has to be some limits to it.

I'm sorry, but when there's a mother at the public pool with her 5 year old son, who suddenly wants a drink, and the mother just whips it out and allows the child to have his snack, I nor anyone have to see this. Where I come from, breastfeeding for this long is kind of sick. Even babies make me ill at ease for the reasons I've explained above. It's called modesty, which while not required by law, is a nice virtue to have.

Hey wow easy on man, how is questioning your stance on breast-feeding me saying your a douche? People need to relax.

on the first page on this thread you were saying that breast feeding is similar to A)sex B)shitting, it's understandable to believe that you'd oppose it no matter what

I used those points that just saying breast feeding is natural doesn't make it ok for fully public areas.

No, you used the points to try and make a strawman argument. Breathing is natural, by your logic since we don't shit in public we shouldn't breathe in public.

Can you present one good argument why you shouldn't be allowed to breastfeed in public?

Sometimes going off to the side isn't an option. There isn't always a discreet location for them to breastfeed and if there was and they chose not to, if that makes you uncomfortable, then simply don't look.

Honestly, people just need to get over it.
