It drives me bonkers. Why would I eat when I'm not hungry. I don't eat three meals a day. I eat when I'm hungry. Sometimes its just one which is dinner. Sometimes its just breakfast and dinner but very rarely do I have lunch and if I do its just a snack. Seeing most of the time I wake up at noon or later is probably the reason why. I don't know how the three meals a day thing started. My mom freaks out when I skip lunch and says, why aren't you eating, you need help blablabla and she ruins my day because of it.

I'm 160lbs and almost 6 feet and 18 years old. Seems alright to me. Anybody else have parents that do this?

Man you'll get to the point where you just grab and cook whatevers in the house. I believe in a couple years my parents won't be cooking for me anymore.

My mom could frankly careless (Not in a neglectful parent way) if I'm not hungry she'll just say "Well when you are, the leftovers from the meal are in the fridge, just heat em' up."
I can't actually think of a reason why a parent would force their kids to eat.

Well dude seems to me right until I read your age, you can handle that stuff by yourself. In my case my baby bro is always trying to avoiding meals, never hungry the dude LOL but he is 12 y.o so he needs to get some food.

That sounds extreme man. Sorry to hear that. Luckily my parents aren't that fanatical. I personally think it's fine if you don't eat 3 meals a day, it really just depends on your metabolism.

My mom is the opposite. She couldn't care less what I eat.

My father doesn't care whether I eat or not, lol, so I don't have that problem.
Maybe talk to your parents? I mean you are 18, man...why not getting out if your parents get on your nerves?

Coming from someone who has dealt with an eating disorder, I can understand their concern; especially if either of them have personally had someone close deal with some sort of eating disorder. They're just concerned and want to make sure that you're not avoiding food on purpose - that's why your mom is thinking you need help.

I'm not saying there's an emotional or mental explanation as to why you don't eat perfectly (according to your mom), seems like you're just not hungry and don't have an appetite to me. She's probably just making a big deal over nothing, because like I've said, she's concerned about you and she has probably known someone who's had REAL eating issues that where psychologically based (because trust me, it's terrible, I can understand her concern as a a mother).

Believe me it's not me. My mom starts yelling when I don't eat. I just tell her I'm not hungry so don't make me anything and she takes that as an insult. I want to my my own dinner but she doesn't let me use her pots and pans by the way :) she feels like she always has to make me dinner and I really don't want it sometimes. Sometimes it's I don't like what she made or I'm just not hungry. Sometimes I like to decide exactly what I'm going to eat and when I'm going to eat. Unfortunately I don't have that luxury right now. I'm forced to eat at the exact time she makes it.

Maybe they are trying to make you eat small meals more times a day?
