I would recommend briefs but boxer briefs are okay too. If your doing contact then a jock would proberbly come in handy. In terms of brand just either go for actual sports type underwear from a sporting goods store or invest in higher quality brands like diesel, calvin Kline, Armani and so on (warning theses brands can be expensive).
When I did pe I was usually in briefs, boxer briefs or a jock which are all great just never wear boxers for sports... Never!

I highly recommend you get a few pair of Nike Pro Combat or Under Armour compression shorts. Get the same size as your normal underwear. You do not want to play sports with regular cotton underwear. The compression shorts are made to keep things where they are supposed to be yet allow for full freedom of movement.

I usually wear briefs for sports but a jockstrap with a cup is good for contact sports. Any brand is fine just make sure you get the right size, never get a size bigger than you would normally wear but a size smaller can be ok as long as you change before the rest of your classes :) good luck at school

Well, my one big tip is just don't wear boxers because everything will flop around like crazy down there if you do. :P
For gym in school, I would wear boxer-briefs or trunks (both basically the same except trunks are shorter) as I personally found briefs a little too restrictive. Support and comfort are more important briefs are probably best for support as they keep everything in place. If you can't wear briefs, I would go with boxer-briefs or trunks.
In terms of brands, I recommend you stick to the designer brands if you can at all afford to. I like Calvin Klein, Bjorn Borg and Armani, though Armani can be very expensive. Hollister and A&F are also very comfy too. Good luck and ask me if you need any more help. :)

Never freeball or wear regular boxers. Your tools will flop and slap around. (Have your nut slapped to the side of your thigh? Feels like a kick in the same place.)
Go for tight as possible. Briefs and trunks/boxer briefs. Or compression shorts.
/Especially with a cup-just keep it in place./

For sports, I would use compression shorts if possible, that's what I use and it helps keeps everything from flopping around lol

Jock/cup/compression or slider shorts for contact sports, jock or freeball for wrestling and regular gym usually briefs works for me.

ya compression are ok, but a jock for running or gym is better and a lot cooler.

I wear boxer briefs. I recently joined the school boxing team and they offer my balls support. I don't recommend boxers. Briefs might be the best choice, but some guys don't like wearing them. I don't, so I opt for boxer briefs.

Usually I will wear a pair of my boxer briefs or trunks. I do also have some compression shorts though.
