too shy

I'm extremely shy and because of this I have no friends I spent all of last school year in the library alone. School is starting up soon an I don't want a repeat of last year but its so hard for me to talk to someone I just can't keep the conversation going. I wan to try and make a friend but my family are no help they just say talk to someone and try its not hard..
That's them their social butterflies I'm not I cant just talk to someone out of fear of rejection. Sometimes people forget I'm their which makes it harder for me. I don't know just need a little help at least making one friend this year!

The best way I got some friends was when I volunteer in church and doing some sports. You met people there and just start to talk whatever, the trick I guess is do not expect anything just live the moment. IRL I am a very shy person and this worked for me, hope help you.

Sports, maybe videogames . Try finding something in common with your peers, then friendship will flow naturally

I know how you feel, I had one friend in public and seriously would go to the library and do the same.

Eventually, I had a musical to look forward to and started making a few extra friends. Maybe you should expand your interests and do the same.
