Okay, Next month I am turning 17. Back in April I held a job at subway for a month but my mom, yes my mother got me fired! Now I have been looking for job ever since and nobody will hire me because I dont have the experience needed for any jobs. I mean this girl I know got 3 jobs within the same week! I have applied every where. I have had one job interview but they didnt want to hire me because there were better fit candidates (experience).

My aunt has been offering me a job at a starbucks on the college campus with my cousin and her boyfriend but my mom said "no because she knows how they act." My cousin has been working there since she has turned 16 and nothing has happened to her. I can hold up for myself.

My mom is very controlling meaning she has control over my debit and credit cards (so she controls the money that I had made) She has time limits on my lap top which interferes with my homework (im taking college classes uhg) and time restrictions on my phone. I have a car but I cant drive it because of her. So that's just the beginning.

What do I do about finding a job? I have a resume typed up and it looks good. what would make me stand out even more? and secondly what do I do about my controlling mother? (She also told me I couldnt work at other paces which makes no sense to me)

thanks for the help!

Woww. First of all, may I just say that your mother is rlly rlly RLLY OTT. Controlling your money, computer times, car riding, cellphone, getting you fired, that's insane! Does she determine how long you shower/bathe for and how long and when you can hang out with your friends? Seriously that's got to stop. You're not a little kid anymore so you should have a talk with her and let her know what's what. You're in college-you should be able to rule your own life.

As for the second point: the way I got my second job was as follows: I went to places where they needed many people and applied. You know, places like Safeway, etc. That means you've got a higher chance of being taken on. Good luck miss :)

I think that before applying for any jobs you have to deal with your mother issue firstly. My concern is that no matter what job you get your mum might weasel her way in and screw things up assuming that she did something to get you fired from your first job. If your mother is controlling every aspect of your life, then it might really be hard for you to get a job while you are under 18. Once you're 18, then your mother cannot do anything do you, and you will be free to work where ever you want, and if your mom tries to do anything, then she can be sent away because by then you're legally an adult.

My suggestion is rather than going for a job why not try out for an internship? The reason why I suggest you go for an internship is that you can get both credit towards school as well as valuable experience that you can put on a resume that can help you get a good job once you turn 18. At least if you're at an internship you can call it a class so that your mom will not track you down and try to mess things up for you.

If your mom is micromanaging your life to the point you cannot do anything, then I would talk to your school counselor and see what options you have. It is one thing for a parent to watch out for their kid, but if a parent becomes like a helicopter hovering over the kid to the point the kid can't do anything alone, then that becomes seriously creepy and prevents the kid from growing.
