Need help for a friend!

One of my friends is really depressed lately and has started self harming people and thinking of suicide. He also has a girlfriend with the same problem. (lucky right?)Anyway, what I am asking is there anything I can help him with come out of his deppresion

Have you talked to him about it yet, because sometimes just letting someone know that you care is enough.

I have but that has not helped. I have even told his teachers but that has also not helped
