Yeah its normal. When you get an erection the corpora cavernosa fills with blood and then restricts blood from leaving. Sometimes if too much blood is there you get a throbbing sensation, which is common and there is nothing wrong with it.

When you get a erection, you're body is putting blood into your penis and it fills up those ( whatchamacallits ) which makes an erection. Now Your heart has to pump that blood down there and sometimes, it pumps a little harder ( maybe you're more aroused than normal or your blood pressure is up ) but basically, its throbbing to the beat of your heart so No, you haven't got anything to worry about.
