I've never really had a "close" relationship with someone of the other gender and I would really like to. I want someone I can talk to about my problems and just someone to talk to in general. I've never had a relationship and honestly I don't know where to start. I have many female friends but I don't think they are interested in me in a relationship sort of way.

Well relationships work both ways, so the best thing to do is find someone you like and be friendly with them. That means taking a genuine interest in their life and nothing fake. Get to know them and let them get to know you. Creating a friendship before relationship is the best way to go. The best relationships I hear about are the ones described as 'my bf/gf is my best friend'. I hope you find someone to connect with. :)

I think that if you just want someone to talk with about your problems, things etc..., you can also find a friend
It's another thing if you also want to find a girl to have "your intimate moments"

Just don't fake being into them for the sake of getting their attention. My second ex did that to me and I'll tell you what, it's several months after the fact and I still hope he dies slowly by himself in a hole.
