I made a lost here recently about selling some old items of mine, the plans didn't work out. So I came up with the idea of saving my laptop and making it worth using again unfortunately I have no clue how to do that. So I'm asking you, the tech gods of VT to help me out.

Background Info
The Laptop is an HP Pavillion ze4900
The screen is nearly toast, with several lines running down the screen
The S key makes the screen black out
Before I got it my parents put a blocker on it so I would not be able to watch porn
Its very slow

Two things upfront
How do I takeoff the blocker?
Is it worth saving, and if it is how do I do it?

haha i'm kidding. :p

Seeing as it is an XP machine, it might not be worth it, since XP lost support. I have a feeling that it would be more problem than benefit.

Would there be a way to mod it

I don't think that's even worth salvaging.

Also, I disable a blocker once by finding the service, finding the path, going to safe mode with cmd, remove the service. I then asked my parents to uninstall it legit, with a smirk on my face :smartass:

I agree. If you're going to be doing any legit computing/working, a new machine would do you a lot better.

This post was an excuse to post that picture.

TechMission Safe Families We Blocker

I want to make it faster and free of viruses
And I want to make it a "testtop" where I can use different softwares to make it awesome to use
And of course to watch porn

ok
are you an admin? If not, ask your parents to unlock it for you.
Uninstall a bunch of crap.
and install Microsoft Security Essentials, and Malwarebytes (both free and very effective) and run full scans of the computer.
Also CCleaner is great. also free. It has a registry cleaner too which works well.
and adwcleaner too if you have any ad popup viruses.

Then you can do some maintenance like opening it up and cleaning out the dust. Clean it up a little.

Update the software, and drivers for the hardware.

And run the Disk Defragmenter after all your uinstalling/ installing.

I have no idea what "testtop" is. And what different "softwares"?

You could just install Ubuntu....that seems a lot easier

What software do you want to try running on this laptop..

If the specs are exactly the same as factory when it came out I imagine you could maybe run paint at 100% not sure about anything else :P

1+ Just install Ubuntu on it + you don't need to know much about Linux or Ubuntu to watch porn.

You could also install opensuse using the LXDE environment, or lubuntu. that would be friendlier with an old machine such as his.

reinstalling the OS would pretty much remove your blocker, as well as give you more potential to mod this machine with there being a large customization/moding community. and even if your parents lock the account, you can still log into root assuming you set a password for it beforehand, and that your parents dont know about that account.

sudo -s
