A young man in Mexico accidentally died after pointing a gun at himself while taking a selfie for Facebook.

In news that might sadden and frustrate you at the same time, a young man (pictured) in Mexico died after he accidentally shot himself while taking a Facebook selfie. Oscar Otero Aguilar, 21, of Mexico City, was mortally wounded when the gun he was pointing at his head accidentally discharged. Police state that Aguilar had borrowed the gun and was waving it around while trying to snap a photo. Aguilar's neighbor, Manfredo Paez Paez told local media: "I heard a gunshot, and then I heard somebody screaming and realized somebody had been hurt. I called the police and when they arrived they found that he was still alive."

The victim died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. Previous selfies on Facebook by Aguilar showed him in front of fast cars, posing in a band and hugging beautiful women.

Ignoring the fact that private gun ownership is illegal in Mexico, why on earth would anyone want to take a selfie of themselves holding a real gun pointed to their heads is beyond me. Has social media morphed into such a big deal now that people are even doing dangerous things just to get noticed? Hopefully, this is an isolated incident and will prove to be an example that it's never a good idea to point a loaded gun at anything -- especially to yourself.

That's really sad. My condolences to his family. I would never ever point a gun to my head...whether it be loaded or not.

I really do give my thoughts for his family, his friends, everyone around, even his loss of instagram followers.

honestly, I think this is natural selection in action. people who have been raised to properly handle a gun (hell, even people who haven't) instinctively know that pointing a weapon at your own head is extremely dangerous. this kid on the other hand thought it would be BALLIN to snap a selfie of himself pointing a gun at his own dome while throwing up gang signs O.G. WESTSIIIIIDDDE HOMIE #YOLO so he did, and welp, the results kinda speak for themselves.

reminds me of that other rapper guy who was tweeting about how drunk he was while driving 30 bucks over the speed limit. needless to say homeboy died suddenly in a wreck not too long after that.

sucks about their families though.

I'm sorry, but that's just stupid. Sure, let's all point loaded guns to our heads for selfies, what could possibly go wrong?

I hate to sound like an insensitive prick, but what the hell would make someone point a gun at their head to take a selfie (then again, selfies are a stupid concept in the first place, but I digress).

One part of me says it's sad :(, and my condolences go to his family and friends.
Another part of me is like: wow, well that's some natural selection right there.

Overall, I don't think publicizing a death like this is respectful.

This is why you never put your finger on the trigger when handling a gun, and why it should be locked and unloaded when handled indoors. You can take a picture with a gun. But why would you aim it at your head? I feel sad for his family, but I also feel like this is how the lesser intellectuals are separated from the rabble; permanently.

Has common gun safety knowledge just been thrown out the window these days?

Very stupid. If you're going to take a picture like that, you should at least have enough common sense to not do it with a loaded gun.
It's really shocking the amount of people who lack common sense.

Ha. Really, if he was stupid enough to pose with a loaded gun, with the safety off, pointed in such a way that it could hit him, he kinda had it coming. Don't get me wrong, I don't like anyone getting killed, but you have to admit that it's his own fault.

As much as it pains me to admit it, this is all completely true. I feel bad for the family.
