Do you think there are too many labels for sexuality? Yes, or no, why? I am okay with labels, but they seem to divide so much. I think sexuality is confusing and for all we know there may be thousands when you factor in every little thing down to the tiniest detail. But, I want to hear your thoughts on this. So many sexualities seem like tag-alongs, and kinda are since you can be blank and blank. But that is another story.

Sexuality has infinitely many many many many many many many individual points and there's no real way to categorize all people in a certain category, some overlap, people get left out and it's basically a big mess, but there's one label that fits all of us: human.

Sexuality is very fluid and comes many different ways. So of course there are a lot of labels. Some people find them unnecessary and may use broader terms, and that's fine, but there's no reason to denounce the people who choose to put things in a more specific term.

You do realize I'm not denouncing anyone right? I was asking a question.

Didn't really sound like you were denouncing anyone in the first place.

Yes, it gets confusing, and no, I can't hope to learn all of the labels that exist for various sexualities out there, but there are a lot of people who are comforted by knowing that there's a category they fit in. So I have no place telling someone that their label is unnecessary or extraneous; if it makes them feel better, then by all means, I will respect that. I just get to learn a new label is all.

Sorry, I couldn't think of the right word. Not necessarily denouncing things. It was closest to the word I'm looking for.
Denouncing the term they use is close to what I'm trying to say.
I could've phrased that better. Didn't mean to sound accusatory.

I have nothing against labels but I think they divide us too much.

I kind of agree with you, OP. I think people are either gay, straight or bisexual, period. All those middle terms will always fit into one of those 3 broader categories. I have nothing against the use of those labels, if it makes people more comfortable, concerning their own sexuality, then it's fine, I just agree that it might divides us a bit and make something so complicated as sexuality even more complicated.

So are you saying that asexuality simply doesn't exist in your mind?

It's touchy subject, but I think Elysium summed it up well. It's extremely comforting to know that what you consider yourself to be exists, instead of having to settle for something that's only partially you. There are a lot though, which gets confusing sometimes, but it ultimately can be helpful, if people are rightfully informed.

I'm sure he didn't mean it. Please don't fight. He, me, and others always get grilled over what we say when we mean no harm. I won't have it here too. No don't curse me out. Please.

I fit nothing. Maybe misfit, but I hate that too since it isn't "me" whatever "me" is. I feel so crazy all of the time. I don't know what I am. I am not against labels, I just feel there are quite a few. It can be helpful I guess. What do you say to the infinitely confused like me? Or to those who hate labels?

No, I didn't say that, I was just answering to the OP's question which was: "Do you think there are too many labels for sexuality?" There are many researchers that believe that asexuality is not a sexual orientation, and even if it was, I was just referring to the case where there is sexual attraction. If you don't feel any sexual attraction towards someone, then you're asexual, but if you feel, then you have to determine to whom you feel attraction to, and that's a more complex process.

To be honest, I think there can be too many labels. Exactly as said above, it's a spectrum. Look at it like this, a rainbow. Most people know red, orange, yellow etc but they don't know specific colours like "Salmon Pink" or "Tangerine Orange". I don't feel there is a need to have to put a label on everything, and I think the three main sexualities, heterosexual, bisexual and homosexual are enough to summarise most of the population. Anything that deviates from these can be considered branches of the aforementioned sexualities, or just under the umbrella term "queer", which can also cover asexuality too. Recently I was on tumblr and this person decided to come up with 'placosexual - a person that gives in a relationship and doesn't want to receive'. This is an example of labelling something as a sexuality in which it does not need to, and further complicates everything.

LGBT+ is enough to some every queer (non-hetero) sexuality.

Ah, ok.
