Hi people, its been a while since I posted on this forum, but again I need your help or advice. Recently I have been looking to purchase a tablet, mostly to use for reading school text books, roleplaying books, surfing the web and note taking stuff. I don't really want to spend too much money on one though. So far the options I have been looking at were:
-Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8" for $277 aud
-Tegra Note 7" for $269 aud
-Second Hand iPad 2 (from friend) for $225 aud
So, in everyones opinions which would be best to get, or would there be another tablet you'd recommend?

As much as I'm an android fan boy I'd highly suggest the ipad. I love mine and I think tablets with android so installed just suck.

Of the three, the iPad. I suggest getting tablets of at least 9 inches, the rest is too small for reading. IMO.

Whilst I'm also and android fan boy, I must say I do really like the iPad, provided you know the drawbacks and are happy to live with them, iOS, the older versions found on the 2nd gen, is a superb OS. So long as you keep to the older software and don't update it to the latest on it should stay fast, if you do update it to the latest software it becomes show and sluggesh, that's how apple sell them, they outdate them with software.

Android however is nearly as good, but isnt quite the same, it has its own advantages and disadvantages, such as more customisability, you actually own the files on there. So on and so forth.

But personally I recommend the iPad,

Contrary to what other people are saying, get the Tegra Note 7. Its much faster and newer than the others, and will have support for the next few years. The samsung is just slow, and the iPad is so old it probably will be killed off next year, not to mention it has terrible performance and is definitely not worth that much money.

I'd say a Kindle Fire if it's meant for reading, surfing the web, etc.

Get a microsoft surface. It may be anliitle expensive but belive me it is worth it. They are so cool and I seriously replace my laptop with it. It is for play and for work.

YES I agree but I've also had some experience with the Galaxy Note 8 as well as an old iPad (generation 1). If you are going to go with the iPad, do be aware as other posters have said to not upgrade to the latest iOS (or even later). This will make it crash often and just make using it a pain and cause lots of frustration. I've had positive experiences with the Galaxy, and I'm not sure if the Tab has an S Pen but honestly it's my favourite part of using my mom's Note 8, it makes drawing and writing and note-taking a breeze & I love to use it along with the pre-installed S Note app. Anyway, back to the MS Surface.. do not get the RT because it is awful and you can only install things from the Windows Store, which is pitifully small... The Pro may be too expensive, however, but if you're looking to get a Surface than that is the model to get.. I believe you can download third-party apps from the Desktop (aka as you would be able to on a computer; go to a website and download files at the click of a button.)
