Hello! I'm 14 and a bit overweight, so I want to lose weight. Not by starving, but simply exercising, and not even heavy exercise just moderate exercise.
So you might be asking yourself, why is this person asking if they should exercise and lose weight, WELL I have a reason.

So according to this article http://tinyurl.com/l3t38dt If you are a teenage boy (which I am) and you fail to accumulate 2,000 to 3,200 calories a day your growth can be stunted. Well a teen may need 2,000 calories to maintain a steady weight, and if a teen goes under their steady weight calorie count they begin to lose weight and their growth is stunted. Well if this teen exercises and loses 600 calories then there intake drops to 1,400, meaning they are under their steady weight calorie count, so they being to lose weight AND their growth is stunted. So this teen would need to up their intake to 2,600, meaning they would never lose any calories therefore no weight, but they'd at least get the health benefits from exercising. So if this is true why do doctors advise growing children and teens to lose weight if they are overweight, when it results in stunted growth? So then teens can never lose weight and they can only gain. So I guess I shouldn't lose weight, or my growth will be stunted. WTF?

I wouldnt believe that .... A healthy mix of good exercise and a varied but balanced diet and all will work out!
