My friend is being abused.

My friends dad has been physically and emotionally abusing her for years, and she's really sick of it, but she doesn't do anything about it. I want her to come live with me, but I don't know if I can because there would be a big legal thing about it since she's not 18 yet. I would think that we could have her taken away from her dad because of the abuse, I would hope, but she has family, but they all live on the same street so she couldn't get away from her dad, but that might not mean that she wouldn't still be put in their care. I'm also not sure how to ask my dad about it. I don't think he would go for it, because money's already pretty tight and adding another kid does mean spending more. And if we got the police and stuff involved, that would mean her brothers might be taken away too, and they aren't abused at all and love their dad and it would suck to separate the family. I don't know what to do, I just really want to help her get out, cuz he's probably going to really hurt her if she stays.

Legally things may get a bit confusing but if you tell some one a school counselor the police yet will get her away from him, away from harm. I really recommend that you do tell someone. Once I found out about this girl at school and her mom was being abusive, I didn't say anything the next day she came into school with a broken arm. Then I went and told my health teacher. I think it's important to report this kind of stuff Imediately before it's too late.
