Ok so basically I am on a trek to get abs. I really want 6 pack abs I don't care about having real defined abs. I just want them to be there and visible. But I have hit somewhat of a cross roads and am not sure what to do.

When I started my cardio to lose weight I was 76kg or 167lbs. Now i'm 68kg and 152lbs which is a very nice weight loss. However my stomach hasn't flattened down at all it looks pudgy and fat as always. I have tried doing cardio and yes I do eat very healthy (Planning on tightening my eating plans even more). My ribs are showing and yet I still have a fat belly. I understand you can't pick where you lose fat however I find it strange that I am losing weight and not seeing any results on my belly.

I want to know why my ribs are showing like this and why I have not lost weight on my belly. I don't even notice very much change anywhere on my body. What can I do to help me on my trek to abs. also im 16 and about 5'10". Do I need to try to bulk up then cut? Because if I bulk up the muscle I gain will help me lose fat overall but I can't work on abs because there will be no definition at all seems I have a layer of fat on them which I can't seem to shake.

I have made a post like this a while ago but this is a kinda update I guess you could say I want someone to tell me if it is possible for me to even get abs. Also my man boobs I guess you would call them are fairly pudgy also, could this be because i'm overweight? or could this be because i'm not doing upperbody training? advice would be helpfull!

Honestly, I don't get the need to have abs, I'm fine with having a significant belly, and I actually kind of enjoy it. However, if you want to get abs, I suggest that you talk to a trainer so he/she can suggest a regimen for you.

It's not as if I NEED to have abs, I just want to have them. My family has had alot of situations to do with heart attacks. Infact my dad had one not long ago. So I am trying to get healthy E.g eating right exercise ect.

Abs are just part of the deal but I don't understand why I look the way I do now after so much work I have put into changing the way I do things. So I was just looking for answers as to why I am not losing belly fat and why my ribs are showing :L

Because you can't lose fat only on specific locations in your body (unless you undergo a surgery), you need to make sure you lose fat that's located in all parts of your body, and you can achieve this by doing cardio exercises (jogging, treadmill, cycling, etc...). This is because your abs are there, the problem is that they are covered by a fat layer, so what's the point in exercising your abs if you still can't see them? Focus on loosing weight first, and this means not only exercising, but also having an healthy diet.

Instead of trying to lose weight, get an estimate on your bodyfat %. There are people who are 200lbs with visible abs,and there are people who are 200lbs with nothing but a gut. your bodyfat % is the key factor. Then again, you might just be "skinny fat",which might be the cause of your diet,or in this case how you lost weight by only doing cardio as stated in your post, there are a load of reasons as to why one could be "skinny fat". Try and fix your diet, eat healthy, and get on a workout program for "skinny fat" body types. Working out has helped people who are "skinny fat",through body recomposition, which would probably take time, and the results if any may totally vary.

And for your question about why your belly fat is still there - it's harder to loose belly fat for most people than in any other area. hence the stubbornness.

This is because your abs are there, the problem is that they are covered by a fat layer, so what's the point in exercising your abs if you still can't see them? Focus on loosing weight first, and this means not only exercising, but also having an healthy diet.

Unless your overweight, training your abs is a good thing. Abs like any muscle group, requires training. There's a big difference between having strong abs and ones that are just visible, the stronger ones would most likely be visible even at 12-15% bodyfat. If it's untrained, you probably would need to get down to a lower bodyfat percentage, and then again it might not be as visible as you would like it to be. Training your abs would probably only help them out when it comes to visibility.

Takes time man, just have patience and your abs might just appear :P
