I've been told by my friends that I should go back on anti-depressants.. I have a few problems with it though. First is that I don't know how my parents are going to take the news. I was on 50mg of Zoloft for about a year and now I'm off of them and they think that I'm fixed... They still think that my depression is caused by something wrong in my life.. And yeah there is something wrong, wrong with my mind and the way I think. Two is that when I was on them I kind of abused the medication, out of bad habit I guess by I wouldn't take it for a while then OD when I was really feeling depressed. Then I stopped all together cold turkey. Should I go back on them? How do I tell my parents? Should I try a different medication? How do I not abuse taking it? So many questions... :what:

If you're afraid of abusing medication, then tread lightly when considering starting back on it. You have to weigh out the pros and cons here. I don't know a whole lot about you, or your story, but if you think that being on anti-depressants will benefit you, then maybe it's time to consider it. I think you should talk to your psych about it, and I think you should be honest about your concerns of abuse. There are antidepressants available that are not addictive, and if you have the right talk with your doctor about the issue and are open and honest about it, he or she may be able to help you out a lot.

As for your parents, the best thing to do is to be honest with them too. When it comes down to it, they are your parents, and will want to do what is in your best interest. When you speak to them about it, try to do so in a mature manner, if you have a collected talk with them it will probably get you a lot further than if the conversation goes awry.
