I'm personally a fan of both, if you scroll through my iTunes you'll see it full of biggie & pac but also full of childish gambino, ofwgkta, hopsin, kanye, chance ext...just wondering what other peoples preferences are:what:

I listen to Akala primarily. He is a current rapper yet speaks about history, philosophy, literature and various other things that are seemingly lost to mainstream rap. He's my favourite but I also listen to quite a few others, mostly old.

Definitely an Old school fan although I do like a few "new school" rappers like Freddie Gibbs, Action Bronson, and Kendrick Lamar. I think that the mainstream new school rappers such as Drake and Lil Wayne give the genre a bad name, that's why a lot of people tend to stay away from rap because all they know is the "money, sex, cars, drugs" type rappers that are glorified on the radio. Whenever I see someone say "Rap is just about drugs and shooting", I get greatly offended because they probably haven't heard any old school or underground artist.
Some of my favorite old school rappers:
Nas
Rakim
Biggie
Pac
AZ
Mobb Deep/Prodigy
Common
Ice Cube
Big Pun
Outkast
Chino XL
Immortal Technique( Not really old school, more underground than anything)
Talib Kweli
Mos Def
Sadat X
Big L
Diabolic(Underground)
LL Cool J
Jay Z(Reasonable Doubt is a classic)
Bone Thugs N Harmony
Wu Tang Clan
Ras Kass
Kanye( College Dropout is a classic)
Beanie Sigel
K Rino
Eminem
Plenty more, those are just off the top of my head

Kind of on-topic and off-topic at the same time, but what divides old skool and new school rappers each other? Like new school is 2000's and up?

I'm not huge into rap so I really only know the mainstream stuff like Eminem. From my experience, Mockingbird, Toy Soldiers, and Stan by Eminem are way better than anything by B.OB. Kanye or whoever else made stuff in the last 8 years.

I don't listen to a lot of rap, but the rap I do listen to is old school. Like the Wu Tang Clan. I'm really not a fan of new stuff, at least not the stuff I have heard.

south side described it best new school is more about money drugs sex girls and cars...weak rhymes on strong beats(for the most part...kendrick is a HUGE accept ion) where as old school is the complete opposite strong rhymes on weaker beats (also some accept ions to that...Notorious B.I.G has some strong beats)
