Yeah, Logan and I had a server going that he ran, but it only lasted a couple of days and by the 2nd day it was just he and I in there. I would start one up again but now I'm very skeptical that it would be popular enough to be worth keeping online.

Hello VT! Recently, I saw a post about a minecraft server but that never seemed to have taken off. Well, I play lots of minecraft, and would be willing to pay for and host one should the topic be popular. Respond to this post so I can see how big the community would be. Also, I would need staff, so pm me for offers and questions about the server in general.

Ps If the server does take off, would anyone be willing to donate? I don't need it, but it would be extremely helpful, as running a server is not cheap.

i would play on it and be an admin on the sever, but i think sever admins should be vt admins (which im not and dont plan become one and its only just a thought) as for the donations well i would if i had a job which i dont :/ sorry

I'd be down with a VT server, if its a payed on then it wouldnt disapear from the face of the earth like the last one, but are you really willing to fork oiut all that cash? Servers are hell'a expensive.

Well I payed for my last 2 servers (couldn't get enough publicity), and would be willing to pay for this. The only reason I would be paying is because people would actually play, and we would have a real community before the server is even set up. As for mods, I'd have trustworthy and popular users, and for admins, possibly promoted mods and willing mods on VT.

If by mod you mean plugins, yes, there will be lots of plugins, but the server won't gonna be like a mod pack or anything.

Hi, I'm Brandon, the previous owner and operator of VT's first (http://virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=101509), and arguably most successful (http://virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=107182) Minecraft server, which I ran for a solid 1.5-2 years. It's too bad the diary was deleted, as there were some awesome pictures of some epic builds on the server in there.
If you guys are interested, I currently have an underused VDS which is more than powerful enough to run a Minecraft server for here: http://i.imgur.com/angsqh6.png
It also sits on it's own dedicated 1GB line: http://www.speedtest.net/result/3644542352.png so you wouldn't need to worry about it lagging.
This would also save any of you from forking over any of your own money for a server just to play some MC with each-other.

I know I'm personally against restrictions. The only real 'restrictions' on the previous server were simply don't touch other people's stuff without their permission, and don't build anything obnoxious in the main areas. Other than that, it was go crazy. I'd like to see the same on this server.

Sometimes you log ont a server and its all just plain shit, youve got to level up, or pay, or do certian things just to get tools. I would like this erver just to be minecraft, just plain old minecraft.

Oh, THOSE kind of restrictions.... Yeah, F that. Those kinds of things aren't in the spirit of MC, and definitely do not belong on a community server like this.

I'd be willing to play, as long as pvp is OFF and griefing is not allowed, however, maybe you could do like a Mindcrack sort of thing and keep it whitelisted, so you have to sign up through the forum to get on. I'd like to see use of the 1.8 snapshots, they just added flags, rabbits, and shhep drop food now.

Hey Brandon, thanks for the reply. Well, the VDS is a great offer, and I thank you for offering to host it, but I think it works best with a control panel so other staff could access server settings if needed. If that could be setup, sure! But about the plugins, I have plenty of experience (Admin on one server, owned 2 other servers). The plugins I'd be using would probably be Bukkit. I would use Essentials (and all that comes with it), GroupManager or PermissionsEx (ranks), Sign Lift, CoreProtect, and probably some sign-shop plugin. Your help would be appreciated for maintaining and starting the server with me, PM me to further set things up.

This sounds great to me Brandon. I think we should just have one or two plugs in. Something like ScoreboardStats or some but sethbling like BlingCombat a good one (well fro pvp XD). i also think that anti-greif would be great XD but pvp well depends what other people think. i think there should be a white list and a basic permission system. Like mods and admins on the forums are mods and admins on the sever. Well i thats what i think at least

So update: I went ahead and fired up a server for here.

The server is currently online, and I'm in the process of setting it up, and configuring all the permissions for the groups.
If you want to log in and check it out, you can connect to the address 'atomicgaming.net'. Keep in mind that there is currently a 'greylist' set up, so you will not be able to do anything until given permission to do so. Also keep in mind that the server may disconnect without warning while I toy with the settings. Also note that the world will get reset once everything is done. (Should be done within 24 hours of this post) Basically what you see is /not/ what you get, but you will get to check things like performance out.

Those wishing to play on the server: PM me your Minecraft username, and I'll give you build permission on the server.

Also, if any staff on VT wish to be staff on this server too, get in touch with me & we'll make it happen.
