My parents were gone. My dad usually uses real cigarettes, but he also has the electronic cigarette that he never uses. I didn't want him to become suspicious, so I went and got his e-cig. I took 2 small breaths with it and didn't like it at all. I decided to put it away then, but I thought maybe it would be different if I took a large breath of the stuff. So I took it back out and I did. I coughed for a bit and then felt alive. It tasted like shit, but I still felt alive for once. I don't want to get hooked or anything, and I'm not sure if I will because it really tasted terrible. I'm just looking for a way out I guess... I don't really know, but any advice is appreciated.

DO
NOT
START
SMOKING

I know many people who have, and 6 months later tell me that it was the worst thing they have ever started doing, stay FAR away, Dan, FAR away.

The best advice I could give would be to never do that again. It's so addictive, it really only takes one. Think of it this way; you only get one life, the less bad habits you pick up, the better.

I watched my grandmother suffer with all sorts of terrible things towards the end of her life and almost all of them were caused by her smoking. It's not worth it.

Thanks for the replies guys. It really means a lot. Update: I went outside to skate for a bit, and I came back in about ten minutes later feeling shaky and like I'm about to pass out. My chest is hurting and I had to crash for a bit. Did that come from the smoking?

Just don't do it again and chances are you're fine.
you didn't happen to get the liquid chemical from the e-cig on your skin did you?

Just take my advice and don't get started on that.
I started smoking two years ago and I smoke a pack a day of Djarum Blacks.
Smoke like a train.
Don't ruin your lungs with that.

I don't think you feeling lightheaded and shaky was from a few pulls off of an e-cig, it sounds more like you may have had low blood sugar.

However, smoking is a really poor choice, and if you start you will without a doubt regret it. I don't smoke cigarettes anymore, but starting them was one of the worst mistakes I ever made. It's very hard to quit, and smoking takes a huge toll on you. Not to mention how expensive it is. It's just not worth it in any way.

I know the feeling of desperately trying to find something to push your problems onto; when people aren't an option; sometimes I just don't feel like telling anyone about my problems at all. You might think smoking/drinking/drugs might be an escape for your problems and life, but let me be clear - based on personal experience that I've seen with friends; smoking becomes your problem. Don't fall into it, you'll find it'll be incredibly hard to get out. When I want to get away from things and clear my head, I exercise and go for long, hard running sessions. Find your own escape, but do not smoke. It's never a good thing, no matter how it seems right now.

Americans have no right to complain about how expensive it is when smokes that aren't basically dipped into vials of chemicals in Canada are 10-13$ a pack.

That has nothing to do with the topic of this thread, and a fairly cheap pack of cigarettes where I live costs about $9

Yes, I agree with mostly everyone on this thread. Please don't start smoking.

I started smoking about 5 months ago when I was going through a rough time in school and with my social life; cigarettes were the only things I could resort to. Fortunately, a few of my friends convinced me to stop, but every now and then I began to miss the smell (I know it's disgusting but when you start, it's really hard not to) of cigarettes.
