I'm 14 and I'm very short compared to everyone else in my grade. I'm only 5'5"
The doctor said that I will probably stop growing here soon, but I was wondering if anyone thinks he might be wrong hopefully :whoops:

Your doctor should definitely know best, but I can't see what he'd base that judgement on. Unless you or your family have a history of medical issues that would cause you to be shorter than average there's no way that he could know. Even if both of your parents are pretty short that's not a guaranteed way to determine how tall you will be.

It's possible to continue growing throughout puberty and for several years afterwards if I recall correctly so it's more than likely that you'll still be growing well into your early-mid twenties.

It depends on how tall your parents are or your grandparents if you don't have a tall family then there isn't much you can do.

I don't see why the doctor would say that (unless your parents are short)... You're just 14, growing stops at 18-22 so yeah...

I'm 17 and of a similar height. I hit puberty, grew early then stopped. My dad is 5'6", mum is 5'1", so I don't expect to grow much taller as my family is of similar height. Family has a lot to answer for!

Although you inherit genetically the height of your parents, sometimes the sons tend to be slightly taller than the parents themselves. So I think you will be a little taller than your father/mother.

Yeah my grandad is 5'4, my dad is 5'7 and I'm 5'10. I've always grown gradually and never all at once haha. I used to be one of the smallest in my year and I'm one of the tallest haha

My great-uncles were very tall(Around 6'8). I'm 6'2, and I'm taller than my grandpa, grandma, mom, dad, and both of my aunts. I'm as tall as my uncle, though.

Well, the doctor most likely does know best because he can look at your growth chart and see if you have begun to "plateau" in terms of height increase. Height is an unpredictable thing. Growing up they always told me I would be 6'4" or even 6'5" based on my parents' (dad especially) height and my growth patterns, but when I had my last check-up a few months ago (I was 16 at the time) the doctor told me I may only grow one more inch to reach ~6'2".

According to the NHS website, 5'5" is the average height for a 14 year old, so you are perfectly fine and, unless your doctor has reasoning to why you wont grow more, you've still got at least four to five years to grow - don't worry!

You're only 14 years old, I'm sure you have plenty of time to grow. If not, then you shouldn't worry about it.

Depends on your genes and depends on your puberty stage , so , me for example , I am tall 6"4 , weight about 105kg and I am 15 , but mostly , I look more like my great grand father than my father , my grand great father was extremely tall man - nearly 230cm and weight 150kg , and he was second tallest man in our city history , so , you must know your genetics for your height in future ...

i'm 14 and 6', but i'm an early bloomer. (which is good because i am amongst the youngest in my grade) I guess there's nothing for you to worry about.

First off let me say LUCKY !!! Im 5"4 & 1/2 :( .... Anyway, Your doctor maybe right. All you can really do is hope for the best that you'll grow some more and well... that's it. Idk if he's wrong or not, He could be but I don't think he'd be wrong..... Either way, There's what I've gotta say :) Good Luck !

I'm 14, both my parents are below 5'8, and I'm 6'2. All my grandparents were also short, but I do have some amazon type cousins and uncles. And one amazon aunt. Plus I'm not showing any signs of stopping growing any time soon, even though before I hit puberty, I was projected to be under 6'.

Depending on your physical development your doctor may be right or wrong. I mean , have u hit puberty? The growth of your male parts and hair could be an indicator if you are alreddy finishing your growth process or that you just havent started yet.

I am 5'5 and I think there is a high possibility of you growing taller unless your genes decide that you will be short.

People stop growing at around their early 20's, but it is your doctor, so...
