View Full Version : Voice Change?

My first voice crack was about a year ago, probably 1 to 2 months sooner. Anyway, I don't get many voice cracks only a few a week. I feel that my voice hasn't really gotten noticeably deeper. It got just a tiny bit deeper before then, but since they started my voice hasn't changed much. I guess the cracks came because my voice did change before I got them, it did not change by much at all then. It hasn't gotten deeper since I've had them, but in the past few months I have noticed my Adams apple protrude further, but no voice change. Isn't your voice supposed to change because of the Adams apple? One day will it just take effect randomly and I'll have a deep voice? It is done deepening and is this the voice I'm stuck with? Should it coincide with any other "growth"?

Are you sure it isn't deep enough? I didn't notice any changes in my voice at all. Only my mum noticed after I got back from a camp 2 years ago :P

As this is a gradual process, a lot of people don't actually hear the change occur. Also bear in mind that the voice that you hear, is different from your actual voice. Your best to ask your family members or friends if they have noticed any changes. Or someone who haven't seen you for quite some time (auntie, uncle etc.). Another option is that sometimes the voice changes very slightly and the difference isn't very obvious.

LOL.. My voice started cracking when I was like 13. I would be talking and all of a sudden it would crack. Once we got used to it we just laughed (me too). It was kinda funny and I didn't think anything of it. It lasted like a year on and off. Cause of my parents attitude about puberty it has been ok so far. I think it's only when you are scared about the changes that you really care. My family is really open about it.

Congrats! You are passing puberty! Though it may crack sometimes, because your voice is changing.

Ok, Inside your Larynx are your vocal cords located like RIGHT behind the Adams apple Ok. Now when you started puberty, hormones changed testosterone increased and alot of other changes. Now the older men get ( because of the testosterone increase ), Your Larynx is basically getting bigger and thicker as you age throughout puberty. Now It sounds like yours is still growing but hasn't gotten big enough yet to really drop ( like mine ). You're not stuck with the voice you have forever, it just takes time. ( I have vocal cord problems so I know alot about the Larynx and whatnot ) Im not a expert on this subject but I can tell ya not to worry because soon your voice will drop :)

It's very gradual. In fact, it can be a lot deeper than you might think it actually is. My voice sounds very high in my head, but it's very deep in audio recordings/movies etc

Very gradual? My sources say it's somewhat a sudden change. Sometimes overnight. :P
I guess I forgot how high it was 2 years ago, now it's not as high but still not deep.
Why do so many people here have vocal cord problems? :?
My voice doesn't crack very often, why do some peoples crack a lot? It could just be because I'm a careful talker, and I'm kinda slow and derpy... derpa derpa. Slow at talking in public. I become derpy in public. :s

You may just not be aware of the changes, I didn't notice any changes until people said

When my voice changed, I remember it cracked once or twice, not much at all. The one time I remember is when I was arguing with my dad and it happened but a month or two after, my Adam's apple grew I guess and my voice started to lower. Now, it's lower and I can tell it's lower and I noticed it a little bit because I sing ALL the time (yes, I still do, it didn't effect it like people say) so when I noticed I could hit the lower notes, I could tell. I think the first person to say my voice changed was either my best friends or my aunt though lol for me, it just happened, suddenly.

My friends still hold leverage of a clip of a friend and I singing in music class with my voice cracking halfway through - not the brightest moment in my teenage years haha! It only really did crack for a few months, and then it gradually got deeper. I thought my voice had stopped changing, and it wasn't that I took a year away from school friends for them to tell me that my voice was noticeably deeper the following year. This was 2-3 years after my voice started/finishing cracking. I guess it is a process that does last through puberty, but the most noticeable change will generally be when it cracks.

voices are weird it seems like some guys do it real fast and others take a lot longer... i mean i dont think i have a real grown up sounding voice yet, and it still might crack rarely. one guys voice dropped the summer between 5th and 6th grade he was the first one in my grade, it was surprising because he didnt look like an early bloomer but by the first day of school that year he sounded so grown up.
