Have any of you taken anti-depressants or any medication like that? Did it work for you? Did it help at all ?

I got some last year from my doctor...I took a few and they were really working but I felt like I wasn't myself anymore so I stopped taking them.

I take meds yeah they seem to work alright. I'm not trying to kill myself anymore. Problem is I don't feel much of anything anymore.

I've been on Zoloft for about a week or so now, I guess it's too early to say whether or not it's working but I haven't noticed any changes. I know I need something though, I tried to fight the depression by myself for too long, if the Zoloft doesn't work out then I'll just have to find something else.

If you don't mind, could you let me know if you start getting any side effects, or if you've gotten any? I'm also on Zoloft & I have so many side effects, I was curious if anyone else does too.

I haven't had any yet, but like I said I've only been taking it for a week and a half. I'll let you know if I notice anything.

I'm on Effexor the side effects I've noticed are dry mouth, insomnia, and anxiety .

I've just started taking Mirtazapine (brand names: Avanza, Axit, Mirtaz, Mirtazon, Remeron, Zispin) for major depression. They're not too bad, they work on my insomnia too as they're a sort of sedative too. I have got a few side effects already mainly lightheadedness, nausea, high increase in appetite etc, but I have noticed they work extremely well for my terrible sleeping pattern.

I took Abilify about 3 years ago, I think it helped some, but I stopped taking it. and now a couple years later, I'm worse than ever, but I'm pretty sure that is completely unrelated.

I was also on Zoloft, I got up to 50mg and was on it for about a year. The thing is I didn't stick to taking it regularly and eventually stopped cold turkey. Probably shouldn't have done that. As for side effects I gained a little weight, I had bad memory (like I couldn't think of simple word in conversation), also it got hard for me to pay attention, overall not as sharp.

I took them, and my depression didn't get better. You should try them though if you are depressed.
