I've known this girl almost three years and have liked her from pretty much day one. So we were hanging out and I thought she was being really flirtatious, more so than usual. Now this went on for about two to three days. So she got me to admit I cared about her and blah blah blah. So I text her three days later to ask her out. The next day she text me back saying no (in no uncertain terms). So I pretended I was joking. And messaged her back saying can we still stay friends...and still haven't heard back that was one and a half weeks ago. She left for France the next day

Just talk to her and try to explain the situation and to find out what how she feels about it. Then you'll know for 100%. I know it may sound harsh, but if she started flirting with you and if she got offended by you asking her out, then she has a problem.
