I don't know if this kind of question would be allowed but I've been dying to find out more about the period...
Basically, I know it's painful and you bleed a lot... Specifically, does it hurt because your bleeding or does it hurt for another reason? What does it feel like coming out... Is there nothing nice about it?
Sorry, I don't know where else I could ask this and get a serious response... I hope it's ok with the mods :/

As a mod I can tell you that this question is perfect here, no worries :)
The pain doesn't come directly from the blood, but they are linked. Basically, once a month the lining to a girl's uterus becomes thicker to protect a fertilized egg (we create eggs once a month, they're fertilized by sperm). When the egg isn't fertilized (the woman isn't pregnant) the extra thick lining is not needed, so her body removes it, and flushes it put through the vagina. Since her inside is basically being ripped apart, it hurts, a lot. The blood is the excess lining.
It feels sort of like you're peeing yourself, but without the urge to pee and fullness. Literally like stuff is just dripping out of your vagina. If you're wearing a tampon or menstrual cup, you can't feel anything coming out.
And that's nothing about how moody and hormonal you get. Overall, there really isn't anything pleasant about it, except it can be a relief if a girl believes she could be pregnant and doesn't want to be.

Thank you, girls and boys are split up to be taught about their own system... I knew it was to do with the ovaries, but didn't know you rip yourself apart every month...
No wonder you are so cranky ;)
Thanks :D

The way overdramatic girls describe periods is completely false.
Periods can be very little bleeding and very little to no pain.
They are not always uncomfortable, mainly just annoying.
The discomfort comes from the uterus contracting, which is also what causes the blood to come out of the rabbit hole, so to speak.
