So today I realized I'm kind of interested in hacking. You know just as a hobby. Nothing illegal. I have some experience in .bat coding but nothing else. If anyone has any tips or advice, you can leave it here.

Hacking what exactly? Hacking is a broad, vague term. And my advice is if something ain't broke, don't fix it.

Looks like you want to be a white-hat. That is good. White-hat hacking is really just simply figuring out how things work. So go and find a programming / scripting language that you like, find some examples of that, and go to town!

Yeah, this is definitely sketchy. I suggest that if you're into something like this, don't tell people because they may automatically write you off as a weird/bad dude/girl.

I reckon it would be pretty cool to be in to that stuff, however I'm a total technospaz, I use my computer for music and that's about it, anything else mind fucks me!

Same, I've been looking into white hat too, think it'd be pretty cool to learn, along with things like bypassing school firewalls (so I can access YouTube, pandora, etc)

Are you serious about this?
If so you should read about networking (the OSI model, protocols, etc etc) you should also start to use linux and learn a lot about the kernel and how everything works (i suggest using Linux Mint if you come from Windows).
You should also learn how to code, if you're starting go with Python (2x, the 3x version sucks) and then move to C or C++

My advice. You need a lot more experience than just .bat files. Also like Kacy of Minetest said, learn a language. I guess you could try a scripting if you want but that's more on the line of Website "hacking" Java is recommended. Then C++ you might want to learn C first as it is easier but not as powerful as C++. Now that I think about it, learn JavaScript too. Stay in school, get a good desktop. Also know which OS you should use. Either Linux or Windows. Definitely don't use a OSX desktop.
And that's about all the advice I have.

You've played Watch Dogs, I suppose? Very well...

Take advice on how to begin from this video:

Then, declare yourself an "Independent Security Researcher" -- a fancy name for internet n'er-do-well -- that way you have an excuse when somebody comes after you.

Start today's h4xx0r'ing by pressing Ctrl-Shift-K in Firefox. Try out the right-click menu. On any website, with it open, try going to some page and watch as stuff comes on by. See if you can get it to do what you want.

Hacking If you looking for something really truth, I will tell you truth, hacking is pretty hard and no tool can hack automatically by pressing buttons, there are many types of hacking you need to chose your. For example if you choose website based hacking then you need to learn HTML and JAVA first, with well knowledge, like you can code website yourself after that you will know how things work on a website and you can play with it ;) but pretty hard Learning whole java isn't fun too hard language, I mean all of it not that we saw on online tutorials.

On that note if you're going for web hacking and etc etc, your should also learn SQL and PHP. Then SQLi, XSS, PHP injection etc etc

Every type of hacking needs coding and you have to learn how to make something before you know how to destroy it ;)

Actually I have never played watch dogs. I just found interest in how systems work. That video was very helpful by the way. Inspirational.

I like hacking into online games, however its hard when they are powered by server. I can only Javascript, PHP and HTML & CSS (wich is pretty useless for hacking). I mostly edit other code languages to create something epic. Like modding in minecraft pe, or using exploit in roblox or whatever its so enjoyable!

Illegal content removed ~Typhlosion

There are websites you can practice on
I'd say http://www.try2hack.nl/levels/ is a more fun one.

I am currently in college to be a Networking Professional (Networking+, Cisco, MS certs and the like). I bet you would enjoy having a go with penetration testing. The most basic and useful of tools for this is Kali Linux (http://www.kali.org/). It comes as a live disc (you just put it in the disc drive and boot, it doesn't alter anything) so that you don't break anything, and if you do all you need to do is restart! There is a MASSIVE support base for it and you can learn the vast majority of it's uses/features on YouTube!

I hope you give it a shot, always better to have newcomers on the friendly side :P

I've had my fair share of blackhat and whitehat hacking. Nothing major really. Some of the "cooler" stuff takes longer to understand/learn, like SQLi. you can still use SQLi in a whitehat way, by finding vulnerabilities in websites and reporting it to the owner etc.

OP just learn C++ first, it's not that hard if you have a decent head on your shoulders. if you want to learn website hacking, learn html and css (easy), javascript (easy), and php (easy). once you have that foundation you can learn about xss. you can try SQLi as well if you know a bit of sql.
