I live with my parents and use the same router, and I get that they probably can access my internet history, which I'm kind paranoid about. They are strictly conservative Christians and I don't often, but have looked up porn before. I already use incognito mode, but I'm still worried :/ My dad works with u.s. cellular and has since I was small, so he's no novice with computers.

Most routers dont have internet history recordings so all you have to worry about is how thorough you clear your history on your computer.

This. Plus, Google Incognito doesn't store cookies or record the webpages you go to, so you should be fine. If you're really paranoid, don't look up things you wouldn't be able to explain to your parents.

AL GORE INVENTED IT!!! ...oh, wait, that's not what you mean.

If you're that paranoid, use a proxy the next time you look up something you don't want them to see.

I don't mean to be nosey, but under what circumstances would your dad even suspect that you're watching porn?

If you don't tell him about it and you're using incognito mode (therefore no URL completion to add to suspicion), I don't really know why he would be like "I wonder if my daughter has been watching porn recently, if so it's an abomination"). I personally wouldn't be worried, is all.

I actually know there's a program out there that tracks what you type instead of your search history. My parent's used it on me for years!

As long as you're sure you aren't being key logged, or that your dad wouldn't go to your ISP (if I remember right, Chrome doesn't withhold browsing information from them, even on incognito) you should be golden.

If you haven't got a keylogger or he hasnt put a R.A.T on it use the Tor browser if you are that paranoid however because it uses around 150 proxys it is fairly slow

Would you happen to have any details on your network setup?
Most common routers don't even have capabilities of storing/logging such data. Unless you have a more advanced setup (CISCO managed or Linksys WRT series) or a complete custom setup (computer behind the wireless managing the actual routing side of things) there's no real risk of it being logged at all.

No offence, but to add to what everyone has said about the chances of you getting caught, I really doubt your Dad is gonna know how to find anything on what you are doing. As I recall US Cellular works with phones, not desktops/laptops. The technology is very different. And just because someone works there doesn't make them a computer pro. When you take college cources on computer programmings, hardware skills, or even computer forensics. Get what I'm saying?

Actually Ya'll, ( just adding in a little tid bit ) Your router maynot remember what you've looked up but the internet service providers do, so basically, if your dad REALLY wanted to know, he could call them and ask them... anyway I added in what I needed to say carry on ya'll.

This is true, but as far as I'm aware, they really shouldn't be giving that kind of information away so freely.

Yeah well they don't just tell you, you have to tell them who you are, and your account number they give you and if you get those right, they'll squeal like miss piggy. It's weird but they can, I haven't had that happen to me but I've heard stories from friends so I try to avoid "bad" sites as much as possible if ya know what I mean

What Ryan said is really true, but as long you don't spark any suspicions you should be least concerned with this.

There's a different problem with home WiFi. It doesn't store your internet, BUT, if your parents really wanted to, they could intercept your signals to and fro from the router and see what you're accessing. Improbable, yes, but definitely not impossible.

If you do get caught, no big deal.
