I often think about finding true love one day, but then the question arises, what exactly is the definition of love.
Also, what is marriage, its definition has changed over the years and I've been wondering if there is an all inclusive definition of marriage.
And thirdly, is today's progressive, tommorow's bigot, I've been very supportive of same sex marriage, but I've wondered that, in the future will there be a political cause that I am not so supportive of, and be called a hateful bigot for it.

Some say love is impossible, or fake, even a weakness. It has power but I haven't felt it yet. I gueess love is caring unconditionally.

In response to the thread title:

Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more!

Jokes aside, it's all chemical stimulated, just like all our brain processes. Love itself is affection towards a person. It's an emotion

^^Pretty much said all there is to be said. I can't think of anything to add to that.

Love is a strong liking for someone. It's a strong passionate affection for another person. That is one way of seeing it and then the bible says that love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things; believes all things; hopes all things; endures all things. I think in my life the bible definition of love says it all!

This is the definition of love. I forgot the verse, but it's in the Bible.

I don't think it can be dismissed as just a bog standard chemical reaction because it's much more powerful. It causes people to make stupid decisions and it can drive people forward everyday. To me it's admitting that no matter what someone does you'll still hold a deep ethereal feeling for them. Nelson Mandela sums it up well

I once read a quote that stated something like this: if you like someone only because of their money, it's hypocrisy; if you like someone only because of their looks, it's lust; if you like someone only because of their intelligence, it's admiration; but if you like someone and you don't know why, then it's love.

That's one way to look at it. That works.

Love is the feeling you get when you look into someone's eyes and all you can do is smile, you heart beating faster, your words faltering, your stomach in knots. The feeling of comfort in someone's arms and of contentment. Feeling sad when they are not with you, feeling like you can not live a day without them....All in all, love is just a feeling.
As for marriage, it is just a lie, useless and unneeded. You do not see thirteen sparrows getting together to watch two other sparrows dressed up nicely to marry for the rest of their lives, it is a nice concept, but it is a religious concept how ever you look at it, and I am atheist, so....
