I was upset, and we'd both wanted to do it for a long time... we kissed at first, but then we ended up winching. And now, we don't talk. Believe me, I've tried

What does winching mean? I'm guessing you do mean pulling your friend up by a rope.

I'm confused, is there anything you're asking here?

Well if they will not make an effort to talk to you, then why should you? Leave it as it is unless they come around.

I don't really see a major problem here. Unless you have some kind of negative view about it, there's no reason why you two can't just act like you usually do. You kissed a bit. People do that. Sometimes with friends. It's generally not a big deal, and neither of you should think that it is.
