So I've liked this guy for a few years, and I just came to terms of accepting it.

Last night I was talking about him with my (online) friend, and I got the butterflies feeling.

I wanted to tell him, but I was too shy. Then after a while he got a girlfriend. I don't want them to break up since he's happy, but I really like him..

I also don't want to ruin our friendship. What should I do?

You should be patient. He could be with this girl for a long time or it might end short. Do not tell him that you like him yet, wait until he is single. Build a strong friendship for now and see if he ends up with this girl for a long time or not.

Patience is key. Don't ruin their relationship or anything. Just be friends for a while and gain his trust a bit more.
