Alright...just a few things.
1. Wait a few months so the R520 gets out. X850s will drop in price.
2. Make that mobo Crossfire ready. It's always handy to have two PCI-e slots, and if rumors have it that SLI works on those boards (Anandtech Forums), then they're more worthwhile.
3. Get no less than a 3800+ X2
4. 64 bit XP is shit. No good drivers out. Get regular 32 bit now, 64 bit Vista later.

Sounds like a good set-up, I'm just after re-building my PC, don't have PCIExpress but the AGP 256MB GFX Card really changed the graphics :D
I hope to upgrade to 1024RAM in the next few months

That all looks good. But, if you're going for Windows XP x64, make sure all the hardware you buy has compatible drivers for x64. And, make sure the software is too. Because, some software uses drivers, like Roxio, and Alcohol 120%, which are incompatible right now.
As of now, it's probably a better idea to stick with XP Pro 32bit. Unless, you're sure everything is fully compatible. I had x64 on my laptop for a little while, but they didn't have compatible Wireless drivers, and the sound would pause every so often, for a second or two at a time while playing MP3's. Plus some of my software didn't work. So... I'm back to 32bit XP Pro right now.
That computer looks close to what I'm going for. Except, I want a Dual Core 64. Only thing holding me back is I gotta use the money for college right now, so I can't build one.
Oh, also, Make sure that 350 Watt PSU is enough. My 300 Watt is kind of pushing it sometimes, for my PIV 1.8ghz, but that's mainly because I have everything you can think of, almost, running off it.
I'm not sure of the power requirements of the Graphics card, nor how much total would be recommended for all those components.
2GB of ram is a lot. I mean, more is always good, but normally you wouldn't need that much. But, hey, I'd do it if I had the money.

It's not my responsibility to make sure the stuff is compatible. What's going to happen is that weekly I'm going to go to the local, individual-run computer store and the guy there is going to help me build it, that's where the laber+instructions come from. He picked out the parts, the only thing he left was the graphics card which he really knew I wanted. So if it doesn't work, he takes care of the problem. Not me.

Hmm... Well, I was just making a point. There's too many bugs/incompatibilties with x64 for me right now. But, if you want to go with it, that's your choice.

580?! There is absolutely no reason you need that much, unless you use SLI/Crossfire. 400w should cut it...

But the thing is that 64 bit is backwards compatible. So it'll work with 32 bit programs, and then when more 64 bit programs come out, you've already got it.

I think what he was getting at was the same thing I was saying. Sure, most 32bit programs that work with 32bit XP will work just dandy with x64. Not all of them will, and depending on if those programs are ones you would want, might make you upset when you get to installing them, and it errors out.
It did that with My CD Burning software and my Virtual Drive program.
But, yes, it'll be good when 64bit software comes out. A lot of software makers dont see 64bit as anything right now, and aren't making programs for it. Like Netgear, who says they have no plans to make drivers anytime soon if at all for their cards under 64 XP. Or, like Roxio, or various other software makers, with the same stance, except for programs. They see 32bit as their main focus, and don't have any plans of releasing 64bit compatible programs any time soon.

Most 64 bit drivers are REALLY unstable. They barely work, because no one really suspected the 64-bit switch so soon. I'm going to advise you, once again, stick with 32 bit, particularly if you game. The only true 64-bit game out there is Farcry. That's it.
If you can wait a year, then make the switch. Now, it's just not advised.

Who cares? what brain surgery are you going to do on it? Just get a damn computer instead of getting it to show off to people. Unless you're doing something professional then don't waste your money.

people play games and games require above-average computers
Then if you're not going to play a sport, then get a freakin game system, that's what they're available for.

Kevin, I'm going to say this once. Forgive me.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!
Why do you always have to be so NEGATIVE? It REALLY pisses me off! It's like you think everyone hates you and you have to hate them back! WHY?!
Sorry. I just needed to rant. I was a bit harsh, but still, please!
EDIT: This is not at all the worst incident, but it's the straw that broke the camel's back.

It's a fucking game, how much can you compare a game too, it takes up time when it'd be alot more smart to find a sport you like instead of sitting in front of your computer talking to people you don't even know while playing your "amazing" computer game. I mean I can understand once and a while but if you're going to buy a good computer that probably costs more than a game system so you can "chat" to people while playing, then it's a sign from above.
Habook, there's nothing wrong with me, when I see something stupid, like bragging about wasting your money on a machine that you're most likely going to get bored with or annoyed with, I'm going to say what I think. I'm not a negative person, I'm an open person, get it straight.

ok then lets compare the specs of a gaming computer against the highest console out right now, the xbox.
Computer: Athlon FX-57 @ 2.5ghz
2GB DDR2 RAM OC'ed to 600mhz
Dual Radeon X850PE Crossfire Edition Video Cards
Xbox: 733 mhz celeron processor
64mb ram not sure what speed
custom nvidia graphics chip
ill let you decide what you would rather game onIsn't the Xbox chip just a Geforce 2/3 in disguise?

I hate Xbox anyway. And I'm not bragging, I'm trying to ask everyone possible if the parts are COMPATIBLE and will work correctly, not just barely.

O.o XBox have an nVidia chip? I don't really think that's true.. It's most likely to have an Intel chipset for the video because it's onboard, and Intel supposedly dominates the CPU market, thus winning Microsoft's lovin
Besides, nVidia better than ATi right now, so I'd have to go with two SLi'd 7800GTX's instead of ATi's junk :P
...
Chin... Don't hate me for that :P

nVidia makes northbridge chipsets too :P
And as far as I know SLi works with all games lol. Besides, SLi is more perfected because of the exact similarity of the cards. Crossfire could only work in a few ways.
(1) The different cards share the "processing power" and allow one of the cards to produce an image
(2) The crossfire copied SLi's architecture and concept, except the 'better' of the 2 ATi cards has to drop down to the lower-end card's speed/power, so the image doesn't tear vertically, or have a critical error
(3) And I forgot what the 3rd way was ... I might think of it again later :?
Anyway, SLi is simple, to the point, and gives 2x the power of one card in a perfect combination of the 2.
btw... Does ATi make northbridges? ô.o I haven't really seen many with them, but I guess that they would have to start now for the crossfire to work correctly.
