View Full Version : My dad

Lost in the Echo

So, last night I found out my dad had passed away. Apparently, him and a few friends were outside yesterday in the heat, and they had begun drinking moonshine. My dad had already been drinking before that, so obviously after all he had drank he became heavily intoxicated. So, for now, everyone seems to believe it was alcohol poisoning. But we won't know for sure until we get the autopsy results in 8 weeks.
While this happened he was with his girlfriend ( he and my mom have been broken up for a while now ). His girlfriend said while he was asleep she checked on him once, and he was fine. But the second time he was not breathing.
It has been a tough few weeks for my father. His uncle passed away a few weeks ago, and then one of his friends shot himself not long after.
So, he was feeling very depressed. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Honestly, I'm just in shock. I can't believe this happened. My dad was my best friend, I could take to him about anything. I just feel lost right now

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it.

I gave a speach at his funeral a few weeks ago, so that helped to give me a little bit of closure.
Dealing with something as sudden and out of nowhere as this has been very tough, and probably will continue to be for a long time, but I've been feeling a lot better lately.

Again, thanks guys. You're awesome.

I am so sorry for your loss Bo. My dad is my best friend too. I'm glad you are doing better. I think knowing what my dad would want most, for me to carry on and be happy in life, is what would make that possible. Thank god for good memories to keep him with you that way.

Thanks Ezra, that's great advice. I just try to remember the good times, and stay as strong as I can. Some days I feel pretty good, and others I'm just overwhelmed with depression, but I cherish the memories, and am thankful for them.
Your post truly does mean a lot, Ezra. Thank you.
