Do you think sexuality conversion therapy should be illegal and never allowed, or up to the person? I feel like it is useless to try and change your child's sexuality or even maybe to try and change your own. I can see why some would want it, and if the persoon is an adult then I guess let them choose but I see it as a waste of time, effort, name, and money. You are who you are, either be you, don't get caught, or like me wear a facade until you are on your own and free of family ties and bounds that hold you back. Overal I think it should only be legal for wwanting parties being of adult age. Anyone seeking the change their child's sexuality should be subject to mental examination, persecution, and possibly have their child examined and or taken to safety. The whole straight-camp/conversion thing is so ancient and weird to me. Why not instead of shaming we encourage and live our sex lives in private?

Sexuality conversion. DOES NOT WORK. All it does is instill guilt for things that are perfectly normal, I think it should be banned.

If an adult wants to do it themselves, fine. If they send their kids? Thats psychological abuse.

Should be banned imo-even for Adults because it's in my view a hate crime

i also agree that i really think it's useless and pointless to try and change your sexuality. it's who you are...but i guess some people can't live with that. if consenting adults want to try and change their sexuality, even if i think it's a waste, i say let them do it. it's what they want. but i believe it should be illegal for parents to send their children to sexuality conversion therapy. you cannot make other people's choices for them, and forcing this on your kids is a form of psychological abuse and makes them feel like shit. if you don't agree with it, fine. there is never, EVER going to be a time where every single person in the world supports and loves gays just the same. but you let your kid do what they want. they're still your child and you should love and support them for who they are no matter what, not try to change them into what you think they should be.

I have nothing against someone changing their sexuality in principle. If we had the ability to do it, and someone wanted to, I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to. Whether it should be limited to adults or not is more complicated. It would depend on the risks and benefits of the procedure.
However, all that is hypothetical. At the moment, we cannot change someone's sexual orientation. Conversion therapy does not work. It should be illegal, just like all other ineffective medical interventions should be illegal. There is a great amount of risk, and no benefit.

You can not change who and what you are. I think its a useless and pointless therapy.

"It's their own body, let them do what they want!!" "EXCEPT IF THEY DO THINGS TO THEIR OWN BODY THAT WE DON'T LIKE!!!"

It should be illegal to sell faulty goods and/or services.

I think it's a scam. You can't change sexuality. It should be illegal on the grounds that it's a faulty service. There is no difference between that and for example, me selling sugar candy as the universal cure for all diseases.

It should definitely be illegal for minors, that's a no brainer. As for adults, I'm undecided.

I think that if consenting adults want to do it, then that's their choice. I believe that sexuality cannot be changed and therefore sexuality conversion therapy is pointless, but if it is a consenting adult going through the therapy, that is their choice and nobody has the right to tell them no. However, when parents force minors through it, in my opinion that is completely wrong and a terrible decision, as a parent and as a person.

The problem is that with sexuality conversion these things get so complicated, because often they end up so brainwashed that they beleive they are cured untill months or years later, or maybe they end up blocking their sexuality.
This doesn't make the service better but it's certainly hard to proove exactly whtat they claim to do and how they don't actualy do it, yaknow?

> Religious organization organizes help group
> Religious person wants this help group
> Person & organization have the same goal
> Person & organization collaborate.
> Person may or may not have received help, but
> Organization did try though
I don't see a problem in this.
Let themselves be fooled. Whether it be from...
Conversion Therapies
Placebos
Alternative Medicide
Feng Shui
Alternative Diets
Ignorance
Theism
Etc...
All the parties are trying to do, in this case, is to help the person. It isn't because being homosexual isn't a freak case anymore, it's because the person him/herself is not satisfied, either sexually, morally or religiously. Also, in Brazil, not only these centres are illegal, it is also illegal to perform any research on developing medicinal techniques on sexuality conversion.
Let's keep that oppositionist idea, that you're born with the sexuality you have and that's it. That's the same argument against trans* people! While certainly one goal is harder to reach than the other, who said it's impossible? You, oppositionists! You, if all research on this is banned!
I'm not saying it's (im)possible, I'm just saying: let the poor ol' bloke give it a try.
However, I do agree that it's unfair to children to be mandated to go through it. Maybe an inferior age limit, like 14/16/18?

Conversion therapy differs from the rest of those things in that not only is it ineffective, but it's been proven to actually be extremely dangerous and cause long term mental health issues.
Personally I don't think it should be illegal for adults, but therapists who practice it should have their license revoked for dishonest practices.
