ok, this is gonna be a really nerdy question, but i want to learn more about trucks, cars, and vehicles in general. i'm dating a guy who is obsessed with his truck, and knows everything there is to know about it and pretty much any other vehicle. i love hearing him talk about it, but i don't understand 99% of what he's talking about and i wish i did. i also kind of want to surprise the fuck out of him when i join in his conversations with a minimal bit of knowledge. c: is there a certain website or something that can help me, or do you have to learn hands-on?

The best help is people. Someone who knows. You have two choices, ask someone for help (I can help you if you want) or ask him directly. One of the best feeling for us car lovers is to know someone likes what we love, and explaining it to people is one of the best things.

A few easy ways to start
1. Youtube. A place you can learn a bit about cars and has some entertaining videos is Mighty Car Mods.
2. Forums. Pick a car and google it followed by forum (ie Audi RS4 Forum) and you'll find something, then just spend some time looking around. Eventually you'll start to pick up little bits and pieces of it and the more time you spend the more you'll learn.
A combination of the two is where I would start if there isn't anybody around who knows and can teach you. I was lucky enough to have my father around for a while to teach me a bit about it and then used the internet to expand my knowledge. But you could probably get somewhere with just the internet alone if you put some effort in!

Have a look at roadkill on YouTube. Also watch top gear. They will deal out some good knowledge of cars alongside everyone else's suggestions

Top gear (uk not us us is trash) is pretty funny and usually a good source of some facts but you don't have to know a lot to watch it

I would just search around online. Pick a type of vehicle he likes to talk about, and look at the background information on the vehicle. Look at some of the features compared to other cars.
