View Full Version : Do You Think There is Life Elsewhere in the Universe?

I tend to ask myself this question whenever I look up into the night sky. Is there life out there?
One might say, that with a universe of 13 billion light years at the very least. There must CERTAINLY be life out there, but considering we know so little about the universe around us, we may be a lone biosphere drifting in the infinite cosmos. Still, if the universe is 14 billion years old one might argue that, in some distant planet, life is so advanced that, they have developed the technology to scan the universe for clues, but perhaps, civilization is only a temporary thing that falls apart after several millenia.

Before I get ahead of myself and end up rocking back and forth in a puddle of cold sweat, I'll ask the question.

Do you think there is life beyond Earth?

Yes there has to be life intelligent life on this universe, the probability is huge that there is life on other planets.

Impossible for us to say. We got no knowledge of the universe. Scientists would know better. But if there is life, there can be nothing cooler than that..

Probably.

I would say definitely yes although on what level I don't know. Also with quite a high regularity we are hearing or planets that could potentially hold life so there must be something on some of them.

Most certainly. The universe is absolutely massive and it's almost impossible for there not to be other life forms. If the life forms are intelligent or not is a whole 'nother debate.

Depending on one's defention on life, there either has to be life statisticly, and otherwise the odds are extremely high of there being earth like organisms somewhere.
Then again, there should also be a hunderd humanly intelligent societies in the milkyway statisticly, yet we haven't found any of those either.

We're just being kept out of the Federation until we develop warp speed space travel.;)

I'm 99.99999% sure there is some form of life somewhere in the universe other than life on Earth. The probability of intelligent life that has visited Earth, however, seems rather minuscule to me.

Whenever this question is posed to me, I have to explain that I believe in extra-terrestrial life, but I don't believe in alien abductions or UFOs. Lots of times, the two topics are brought up in a similar manner, and I think it's necessary to clarify.

The universe is too vast for there not to be more people elsewhere in it.

i firmly believe we are not the only living organisms in the cosmos. with how vast the universe is, with how many different galaxies and undiscovered planets there are out there, i find it hard to believe we are the only self-sustaining planet filled with living things.

This isn't a matter of "belief" like it's some sort of fantasy or religion. The fact of the matter is that the universe is huge. Incomprehensibly huge. It is more likely than not that there are other forms of life elsewhere. Whether they be microbes, or intelligent beings, we don't know.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. It doesn't say he created the heavens and the earths.

I don't think the fact that other planets besides Earth exist within the habitable zones of stars is really up for debate here.

*hoping this is sarcastic*

*hoping you're not actualy implying that earth is the only planet*
