I've been getting into anime a lot more recently and so far I've knocked out two. Those being Sword Art Online and Ao no (Blue) Exorcist.
Anybody have any suggestions for my next one? I'd prefer shows that are already finished airing and have no more than a couple dozen episodes. Perhaps action based.
Also, Attack on Titan and Code Geass are already targeted.
Thanks guys.

Have you seen Yu Yu Hakusho? I've seen the entire series. 4 times. It's pretty good.
It's basically about a 14 year old teenage delinquent who gets run over and dies trying to save a boys life, but because the spirit world wasn't expecting him to sacrifice his life they haven't prepared a place for him in the afterlife yet, so they offer him a deal. He can have his life back if he becomes the newest spirit detective, who's job it is to track down demons who've infiltrated the human world and capture them. Along the way he makes some friends who help him, two of which are demons and ex criminals themselves.
It's usually pretty serious, though it does have its lighthearted moments. It's kinda long though. Over a hundred episodes.

Death Note and Avatar: The Last Airbender are pretty great.
Also, a really good anime movie is Grave of the Fireflies.

I don't watch it much. My friends however usually recommend everyone with Inuyasha and Naruto.

That's a bit too long for me, but I'll definitely add it to my list. A lot of friends suggested long ones that I'll get to when school restarts.

2/3 I loved to death. I keep forgetting about Death Note...

Inuyasha was my SHIT back in 5-8th, but I never finished it. I should pick that back up.
I spent all of last school year and summer catching up with Naruto with NO discipline whatsoever, and I officially caught back up a few months back. I'm up to date, and waiting for it to end now.

Most of these, maybe all have been already said before but I'm putting it out there again just so you get the point. Stein;s Gate, Hellsing (both the normal anime, and the actual story i.e the OVA), Law of Ueki, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, SKET Dance, Shingeki no Kyojin, Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, Rurouni Kenshin. PS. Avoid as many mainstream overhyped anime as possible, too long and not always the best way to go. And watch everything I recommended in subs, except Stein;s Gate, only anime I recommend watching dubbed. That dub is amazing.

A few I like and that haven't been mentioned yet are Samurai Champloo, Basilisk, Elfenlied, Another, Trinity Blood, Ayakashi, Mononoke all rather short, not more than 25 episodes. I usually just watch subbed ones.

I will agree with you on this, watching alot of overhyped mainstream anime isnt the best way to go most of the time. and avoid dubs if you can stand subtitled anime, alot of the dubbed versions of anime I've seen are terrible compared to their subbed counterparts, with the exception of Code Geass and Gurren Lagann.
My suggestions are
- Sword Art Online (Second season is now airing! :D)
- Tengen Toppan Gurren Lagann
- Strike witches (Contains a lot of fan service, but plenty of action too, if you don't mind the combination
