I just started having it recently and I went to the doctor and I was put on ranitidine. Anybody else have acid reflux? Did it go away after you were prescribed medicine?

Majority of the population has gastroesophageal reflux to some degree. It's only when it becomes severe enough to be symptomatic that it becomes gastroesophageal reflux disease. I know of people who have had anti-reflux medication prescribed to them with good effect. If the symptoms persist though, it would be a good idea to revisit the doctor, with views of doing some further investigations to make sure it's not something else causing problems - usually with gastroscopy and/or blood tests.

Ahhh Ranitidine. The liquid kind? I've had to use it and I HATE it. I've had problems with acid reflux in the past, and it went into remission for a while, but I'm pretty sure it's back.

Nah the pill kind
This is literally one of the most uncomfortable feelings I've ever felt in my life(physically). The thought that the chocolate cake I just had is settling down in my throat instead of my stomach is just sickening:(. The ranitidine is helping a bit but it leaves my mouth very dry and makes me thirsty(Even though I'm chugging down like a gallon a day to cool the burning sensation). Its fucking up my sleep too..I don't go to sleep when im want to because my throat/stomach feels like its going through nuclear war.
My dad said he had it real bad a couple years ago for a few weeks and he used ranitidine and it never bothered him again, hope this is the case for me too because I had been eating a lot of those Cheetos flaming hots prior to me having this GERD. I was looking up some natural remedies like aloe juice and ginger root, looks like I'll have to make a trip to my health food store for that.
Did you have to make any diet changes? My doc said I should stop eating acidic foods like soda and pizza...

Hmm, you don't necessarily have to stop COMPLETELY unless it doesn't get better, just WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT EAT ACIDIC FOODS WITHIN A FEW HOURS OF BEDTIME.
No pizza for dinner, etc. Acid reflux tends to rear its ugly head at night.

I've never had serious issues with it, but it comes up every now and again.

Yeahhh I had some pizza at like 10 last night and it felt like hell.
I noticed milk and diary products really help. Maybe this is just my body's way of telling me I need to change my diet up a bit.

I had it and had to take medicine for a while, but I eventually just grew out of it. I still get it probably once or twice a year, but nothing like I used to.
